The Gelson’s Markets Produce Clerk’s primary responsibility is to trim and prepare produce for retail sales, display and rotate product to ensure freshness and keep produce display racks in order to guarantee variety and quantity. Gelson’s Markets is well known for our quality produce department. Inspecting the department frequently to ensure overall department presentation with Gelson’s merchandising standards & product quality is critical.

As a Gelson’s Markets Produce Clerk, you will come in direct contact with our customers. Excellent customer service, attentive listening and resourceful assistance are crucial. The ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers and all levels of staff within Gelson’s Markets is mandatory. The Gelson’s Produce Clerk must possess strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.

All produce department positions start at part time. Pay rate will be dependent on experience.

Physical requirements:

  • Continuous hand manipulation including, grasping, pushing, pulling and fine manipulation

  • Reaching above and at or below shoulder level frequently

  • Standing, walking, bending, squatting and twisting up to 6 hours per day

  • Climbing up to 3 hours per day

  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. frequently

  • Lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs. occasionally

  • Driving moving equipment (Forklift / Power jack)

  • Working near hazardous equipment (Forklift, baler, knives, pallet jack, hand truck)

  • Exposure to dust, gas, fumes (Cleaning solvent)

  • Exposure to extremes in temperature (Coolers, produce back room, water)
