This opening is in our Kawneer business which is located in Norcross, GA. We are the leading manufacturer of architectural aluminum products and systems for the commercial construction industry. Kawneer is part of Arconic’s global Building and Construction Systems (BCS) business unit, which manufactures and markets architectural systems and products in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
The primary function of the Inventor Designer / Drafter is to assist the Engineering Data Management/Computer Aided Drafting (EDM/CAD) Manager and New Product Development team with the implementation of the Auto Desk-Inventor, 3D software within the Norcross New Product Development (NPD) team and area application engineering teams.
Job Responsibilities and Duties:
Assist with the development and maintenance of the Auto Desk-Vault, engineering document management software;
Develop and review documentation of new product designs and major existing product enhancements to ensure documentation is formatted correctly per established Inventor work flow process (WFP);
Develop and review 3D Inventor documentation per established WFP for communication of fabrication requirements for manufacturing use;
Work with 3 rd party resources to review conversion of legacy product documentation from 2D to 3D Inventor WFP;
Work with and assist in training of area application engineering and manufacturing engineering teams on the Inventor WFP and Vault documentation requirements.
Essential Knowledge and Skills / Education
Strong knowledge / experience in 2D AutoCAD / 3D Inventor / Vault;
Experience in Autodesk Inventor, Revit or another 3D drawing program;
A thorough understanding and experience with product design and proper engineering documentation preparation and engineering data management;
Basic understanding of aluminum entrances, storefronts, curtainwall and windows;
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written);
Substantial time, project and people management skills with an ability to work with cross functional teams;
Strong interpersonal skills to build effective working relationships with coworkers, team members, supervisor, and customers;
Demonstrates accountability and results oriented;
Proficient in Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel.
Minimum Years of Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Design/Drafting, Architecture or Architecture Engineering from an accredited institution;
Certification in the use of Autodesk Revit, Inventor, or other 3D modeling software and product knowledge;
Direct design experience;
Knowledge of Kawneer products;
Experience with the development of products within the glazing fenestration industry with a working knowledge of all product categories including aluminum doors, storefronts, curtain walls, windows and composite cladding.
Minimum Education Required:
High School or GED
Minimum Travel Required:
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) from an accredited institution;
Minimum of 3 years of experience with AutoCAD, Autodesk Revit, and / or Inventor;
Minimum of 1 year of experience with entrance, store front, curtainwall or windows;
