Job Purpose (Job Summary): The primary role of this position is to provide support to Invesco’s Global Trading Desks front and middle office platforms and the processes/technology associated with it. As a developer, this person must have strong technical skills, be proficient in business analysis, and critical thinking skills. This person will be responsible for the completion of development activities required to meet the business needs within the required timeframes allotted. They must have the ability to communicate with traders, business management and IT professionals in both excellent verbal and written form.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

  • Work closely with Business Analysts and the Head of EMS Development to refine requirements, design, develop, code, and test a variety of strategic enhancements that will empower Invesco traders with best-in-class trading solutions
  • In depth knowledge of SQL to execute Data Extraction and Transformation
  • Ability to complete Data Analysis, Data Aggregation and Modeling
  • Collaborate with Global Trading Team to identify requirements and develop trading algorithms, market data calculators, visualization tools, alerts, and other solutions that address their workflow needs
  • Conduct rigorous quality assurance testing and manage releases to minimize instances of impact to the Trading team
  • Follow software development policies and procedures
Qualifications

Work Experience / Knowledge:

  • 5-7 years development required, financial services experience preferred
  • Proven ability to learn Investment Management and Trading processes
  • Expert level knowledge of Java and SQL is required
  • Knowledge of Python, OneTick and R is preferred but not required
  • Experience with full participation in software development methodology: Scope, Requirements, Design, Development, Testing, Deployment
  • Proficiency in Test Planning and Execution

Formal Education:(minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in technical field such as Information Technology, Information Systems, Engineering, Math, Computer Science etc
  • CFA or MBA preferred but not required

License/Registration/Certification:(minimum requirement to perform job duties)

  • Sun Certified Java Programmer preferred
