Summary

These positions are located in the West, Northeast and Southeast Regions with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), Office of Supervision. This office conducts consumer protection supervision and examinations at a wide variety of depository financial institutions and non-depository financial services companies. Under the direction of the Regional Director, the Field Manager oversees the regional supervision and examination operations for caseloads of assigned depository financial institutions and non-depository consumer financial services companies and manages the day-to-day work of staff engaged in analyzing and monitoring regulated entities.

Work will primarily be conducted on-site at these companies. When not on-site conducting examinations, work will be performed out of your duty location, which will be your home address. All Examiners will be duty stationed at their home address and will be affiliated, for reporting purposes, with the respective region satellite office. Travel to the satellite office will be required when necessary. -West Region: Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Hawaii, and Alaska.

-Northeast Region: Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pensylvania, Delaware and Puerto Rico.

-Southeast Region: West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Washington, DC.

The pay employees receive will depend on their grade level and assigned duty location which will be their home address. An employee's pay may include a geographical pay differential depending on the duty location. The pay shown for this job depicts the range covering the LOWEST LEVEL WITHOUT geographical pay differential up to the HIGHEST LEVEL INCLUDING the highest geographical differential.

Responsibilities

The Field Examination Manager is responsible for planning and managing the work of a staff of examiners and other staff to ensure that assigned depository financial institutions and non-depository consumer financial services companies (“regulated entities”) comply with federal and CFPB consumer compliance laws, regulations, and requirements. As a Field Examination Examiner, you will:

  • Oversee,consistent with CFPB policies and protocols, examination of various regulatedentities including entities with complex and/or critical issues.

  • Providetechnical expertise and formal training in the region on topics related toconsumer compliance supervision and examinations, such as the adequacy ofcompliance management programs; potential unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts,practices, products and services; and compliance with fair lending laws andregulations.

  • Managepresentations of examination results and required corrective actions toregulated entity management and/or board members.

  • Maintain andapply an extensive knowledge of applicable consumer protection laws andregulations, as well as CFPB policies, procedures, and processes.

  • Handle theday-to-day coordination of supervision and examination-related activities withthe other regions, CFPB headquarters, and other Federal and state agencies.
