Position Summary:This position is for Academic Year 2018-2019.
The Resident Assistant (RA) is a member of the Residential Life student staff and will assist with their designated section of student room in the halls or apartments.
The RA will be responsible for actively working with the residents to cultivate a sense of community by engaging with the university, exploring self-concepts and ideas of well being, developing cultural competence, and strengthening academic skills.
In conjunction to the mission statement of Florida Atlantic University, the RA will be responsible for creating a community that fosters personal, academic, social, cultural competence and intellectual growth.
Will be supervised directly by a Professional Staff Coordinator (RC) and a Graduate Staff Coordinator/Director (ARC/HD) and indirectly by other professional staff members within other Department of Housing and Residential Life staff members.
RA staff range in size from 7 to 16 staff members depending on building size and consist of any class from sophomore to graduate students. Buildings are broken into suite and apartment style, with most underclassman residing suite style halls and upperclassmen in apartment style halls.
The RA is a part-time student staff position, working on average 20 hours a week.
RAs are paid a stipend for 15 hours a week with the understanding that the other 5 hours a week are compensated in the form of a discounted room rate and meal plan.

Minimum Qualification:Must be currently enrolled as a full time undergraduate (12 credit hours) or graduate (9 credit hours) student at FAU.
Must also possess and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 (undergraduate) or 3.0 (graduate). Completed two semesters of post-high school, College or University enrollment by the first day of employment. One of these semesters must be completed at FAU (summer does not count enrollment). Have one semester of a relevant group campus living environment prior to employment for the RA position.

Must have a clear student conduct record. Should not have any of the following: active/outstanding sanctions, student conduct probation, housing trespass, or outstanding payment balances with the university.
Must meet all eligibility requirements for student employment as stipulated by Florida Atlantic University. Must be available Tuesday nights after 5 p.m. for Academic Year 2018-2019 for staff meetings and RA assignments.
Must attend one of the required RA Information Sessions in Fall 2017/Spring 2018.
Must complete and pass (with a B grade or better) LDR 2010 course in within the Fall of 2018, or prove that class has been taken and passed prior with a B-grade or better.
Must be available to start on tentatively August 4, 2018, for Staff Training. No excused absences from training will be granted.
