Job Description

A key resource for a customer area, seen as an expert in how systems are used and how current work processes are supported by technology. Assumes a proactive role in driving improvement activities to achieve department and organizational goals to deliver value.

Technical Expertise- Breadth and Depth

  • Possesses a broad understanding of current decision support tools, (i.e., capabilities & limitations of existing systems).

  • Demonstrates familiarity with technologies and systems or support experience.

  • Possesses familiarity with multiple technologies.

  • Maintains current knowledge of industry and business process trends and is able to apply that knowledge to existing business processes with a focus towards goal achievement.

Business Knowledge

  • Possesses a high level of expertise and knowledge in the business processes of a customer area and how technology is used as decision support within the business unit, and the organization as a whole.

  • Can document complex process flows and create functional requirements and design specifications.

  • Understands customer’s products & services to define any requirements.

  • Identification and resolution of any goals or requirements conflicting with organizational goals.

  • Can identify and/or develop business performance measures to track the benefits of a project or service.

Analytical Skills

  • Capable of helping their assigned function(s) clarify, develop, and plan for current and future technology needs.

  • Helps users define requirements and how to best address them within the goals of the whole organization.

  • Conceives and implements projects requiring systems integration, small teams and multiple technical platforms.

  • Can analyze information requirements that may cross multiple systems.

  • Conducts ROI and other financial analysis to support project funding/prioritization. Ability to determine and map existing business processes / functions and recommend changes required to fit a tightly integrated system in order to eliminate complex system integration.

Project Role

  • May manage small to moderate-sized projects from a business perspective, with appropriate technical support.

  • With minimal support, this position can analyze vendor proposals, evaluate build versus buy, formulate significant components of a project plan, coordinate vendors,

  • participate in testing, and track project progress.

  • Lead multifunctional teams to accomplish project goals “on time, on schedule” and within budget.

Customer Service Role

  • Works effectively on a continuing basis with customers to understand and explain business and technical issues and to provide viable solutions.

  • Able to provide vision, thought, and action in support of organizational goals.

  • Seen by customers as a resource in AHIS for business and technical solutions.

  • Effectively probes and questions to draw out unexpressed business needs. Communicates equally effectively in business and technical terms.

  • Ability to communicate in written, oral, and presentation formats to best represent and

  • express customer and organizational requirements.

Decision Making

  • Functions independently with limited work direction.

  • Provides customers and upper management with enough

Representative Duties

  • Works with customer and AHIS representatives to understand and document complex business needs

  • Serves as a key resource on the IT systems and business processes for a customer area; May lead a process improvement project.

  • Ensures that customers’ system and business requirements are met by monitoring available metrics and collecting feedback

  • Provides and/or develops training for customers on enhancements or new applications


High School or Equivalent Required

Bachelor’s Degree Preferred


7 or more years of experience preferred
