Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Maritime Systems located in Charlottesville, VA is seeking a Manager Programs 3 – for U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard Primary Ship Systems including Machinery Control and Propulsion, Command, Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence,
Surveillance and Reconnaissance and Navigation related products and programs.
The ideal candidate will have recent shipboard system design and development experience (desired) and solid technical operational shipboard experience (preferred) in Ship Systems such as Integrated Voice Communication Systems, Internal Communications Systems, VoIP products; Navigation, C2, and Tactical Systems including Integrated Bridge Systems, Radar Systems, IFF, Encrypted GPS, Tactical Data Link; Electronic Warfare Systems and Decoy Launching Systems; Gun Weapon Systems.
Roles and responsibilities:
•Duties include the key elements of Program/Project Management, Functional Management and interfaces with the U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard and prime shipyard customers.
•Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. Responsible for the cost, schedule and technical performance of company programs or subsystems of major programs.
•Participates in the negotiation of contract and contract changes. Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work
statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.
•Acts as primary customer contact for program activities, leading program review sessions with customer to discuss cost, schedule, and technical
•Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test.
•Develops new business or expands the product line with the customer.
•Establishes milestones and monitors adherence to master plans and schedules, identifies program problems and obtains solutions, such as allocation of resources or changing contractual specifications.
•Directs the work of employees assigned to the program from technical,
manufacturing and administrative areas.
•Bachelors degree and 5 years relevant experience
•Program Management performance
•Shipyard coordination experience
•Team leadership performance
•Experience resolving challenging program issues
•Able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
•5-10 years with Ship Control Systems
•Program Manager of large and complex programs
•Program Manager of Development and Production programs
