Work Schedule: Saturday and/or Sunday; 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m., 3:30 p.m. - Midnight, 11:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. This is a Part-time position that will work 16 hours a week (32 hours per pay period). Weekend shifts include shift differential in addition to regular pay.
UNSCHEDULED HOURS ARE ROUTINELY AVAILABLE, AND THIS POSITION MAY LEAD TO FULL-TIME EMPLOYMENT.

- Dusts and polishes furniture
- Requests and stocks supplies and equipment needed in all areas
- Washes walls, windows, room partitions, ceiling vents and fixtures
- Empties ash trays and waste receptacles
- Washes and makes beds
- Cleans and sanitizes patient care areas to prevent cross contamination/infection
- Operates heavy industrial type power scrubbers, buffers, carpet vacuums and shampooers
- Removes and replaces draperies and blinds for cleaning
- Notes and reports equipment and areas in need of repair as needed
- Moves heavy furniture, supplies and equipment in a safe manner
- Uses ladders as part of cleaning functions
- Handles non-infectious and infectious waste disposal and sanitation
- Cleans non-critical reusable medical equipment
- Removes contaminated and non-contaminated trash and changes reusable sharps containers
- Cleans and disinfects restrooms

PHYSICAL EFFORT/REQUIREMENTS: The position requires performance of work which involves light physical effort, such as that involved in using vacuum cleaners and dry mops; continually standing, bending, stooping and reaching; frequently lifting and emptying waste baskets; frequently pushing carts loaded with waste; and lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds. Also performs work which involves moderate to heavy physical effort, such as required to move heavy equipment and furniture, i.e., heavy industrial vacuum cleaners, heavy duty floor scrubbers and buffers, couches, beds, etc., and lifting, carrying and/or moving items weighing up to 40-50 pounds. Moving, set-up and working from ladders is infrequently required.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Usually works indoors in areas which normally have adequate heat, light, and ventilation's. Will be exposed to vibration from heavy equipment and to skin irritations from strong cleaning solutions used in stripping floors, etc., as well as subject to cuts and bruises. Continually exposed to dust, dirt, and disagreeable odors, and is frequently exposed to organic material which may be contaminated and/or infectious and require special handling.
Your background must demonstrate experience in a variety of cleaning duties, such as sweeping, mopping, and waxing floors; cleaning surfaces such as light fixtures, venetian blinds, and counter-tops; and cleaning restroom facilities including toilets, baths, and sinks. It is important that you ensure the appropriate details are included in your resume.
EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Evidence which demonstrates you possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the duties of this position must be supported by detailed descriptions of such on your resume or OF-612. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C ( www.opm.gov/qualifications/x-118c ).
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
SCREEN-OUT ELEMENT: Your qualifications will first be evaluated against the prescribed screen out element, which usually appears as question 1 in the on-line questionnaire. Those applicants who appear to possess at least the minimal acceptable qualification requirement are considered for further rating; those who do not are rated ineligible and are eliminated. The potential eligibles are then rated against the remainder of the questions.
