Title: Sr Product Specialist/Product Specialist - HOLocation: United States-Connecticut-HartfordJob Number: 1702603The Middle Market Commercial Auto Product Specialist is the central figure in both the maintenance of the Middle Market Commercial Auto product and support the implementation of innovative new enhancements to the product. This position also coordinates the involvement of the Actuarial, Underwriting, Law, Government Affairs, Claims, and IT departments as needed on each project. The position is responsible for managing the timelines for the development and implementation of multiple ongoing projects. In addition, this position supports the underwriting for home office referrals, developing contents for training material and maintaining accuracy within the underwriting manual for multiple business segments.
Manage and Execute the Product Development Process
Provide consultative support regarding all significant issues affecting the Middle Market Commercial Auto line of business.
Analyze line of business results and conduct file reviews, drawing well-founded, business-focused conclusions and recommendations.
Providing technical support and /or leading cross functional teams.
on projects assigned to the line of business.
Critical responsibilities include developing coverage forms, business specifications, filing memoranda, and complex manuscripts. The expectation is that product development in this space will be significantly faster and of higher quality due to the years of experience and expertise that have been garnered by the individual.
Balance the technical and organizational priorities effectively.
Utilizing product experience, industry knowledge, and competitor assessments, assist in the development of business segment strategies, appetite expansion and new product development.
IT Maintenance Agenda
Providing proactive participation and representation in corporate activities including design and execution of rate and product changes in support of business goals, management of Product and IT maintenance agenda for Commercial Auto, leadership of cross functional initiatives impacting the Auto line of business, and development of new Auto product concepts.
Corresponding with internal business partners as well as external organizations such as ISO, State Regulatory Agencies regarding product issues and/or coverage filings.
Execution of the Auto product agenda and roadmap – both new products and maintenance to existing products.
Delivery of rate and product changes in support of business segments’ objectives. Oversight of product accuracy.
Rate/product execution and accountable to maintain an accurate, compliant and competitive Auto product.
Qualifications: Technical/Functional Skills
5 years of Commercial multi-line underwriting experience required including the Commercial Auto line of business.
Familiarity with commercial lines insurance forms, policy language, and industry trends.
Working knowledge of rate making and insurance financial analysis concepts a plus.
Strong project management skills essential.
Ability to establish team objectives / goals in alignment with organizational priorities.
Strong drive for results and attention to detail.
Ability to adjust readily to multiple demands and shifting priorities.
Strong organizational, negotiation and influencing skills, and the ability to work with cross-functional teams in a leadership role.
Ability to effectively communicate technical issues and solutions, and incorporate product and
