  • Qualifications,Education, Skills, and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field and 5 years experience as a Windows Server AdministratorOne or more Microsoft Server Certification MCSA or MCSE, is required3 to 5 years experience with VMware architecture V-motion, ESX, and other virtual management software is required3 to 5 years experience with Microsoft Clustering is required3 to 5 years experience in design and maintenance of Active Directory infrastructure, is requiredExperience in DNS, DHCP, and other naming services, is requiredIn-depth knowledge of disk management with SAN, NAS, and local storage with an emphasis on disk layout and performance, is requiredExtensive knowledge of systems backup software, including on line replication is required,Experience with enterprise monitoring tools is requiredExperience working with Linux, Aix, or UNIX is preferred. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Provide reliable and effective server systems environment for the enterprise by: Creating, configuring, and maintaining an enterprise server environment of maximum security, reliability, and performanceDesign, evaluate, customize, and implement new server systems technologyPerform server systems monitoring and troubleshootingInstalls new software releases and system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches, and resolves software related problems.Analyze, design, and implement server systems upgrades and expansion accurately without adversely affecting system availability for mission critical servicesEvaluate, implement, maintain, and improve server systems management tools such as: System configuration, documentation, and reportingSystem monitoring and alertingSystem performance monitoringAnticipate, identify, and respond to server systems problems, outages, and eventsProvide support in operation, installation, configuring, and maintaining backup systems and software environmentEstablishes and maintains provisions for fault tolerance and backups on servers Provide accurate and effective server systems security measures for the enterprise by: Ensuring timely, accurate and cost efficient server systems securityProvide expert server systems security consultation to upper level managementDesign, evaluate, customize, and implement new server systems security technologyPerform server systems security analysis, monitoring, and expert troubleshooting of host-based firewallsAnalyze, design, and implement server systems security changes accurately without adversely affecting service availability for the entire enterprise mission critical servicesImplement, maintain, and improve server system security tools, such as:Central loggingConfiguration archivingCentral patch deployment systemsVulnerability scanningIntrusion detectionFinding, testing, and implementing ways to harden systems against possible threatsIdentify and respond to security vulnerabilities, attacks and eventsDevelop, review, and communicate accepted practices related to server systems security Provide technical support by: Provide 2nd level support for server systems support by answering questions, resolving problems, and implementing changes handed off from the customer support team.Enhance and maintain the existing environments capacity and capabilitiesDevise and implement complex server systems configuration changes accurately without adversely affecting system availability for the enterprise mission critical services.Maintain an accurate and detailed work log in our ticket tracking system for all work requestsResolve hardware, software, and service problems by opening trouble tickets with equipment vendors and service providersEvaluate and identify ways to automate, streamline, and improve the day-to-day server maintenance and administrative practices of the server systems team
