Where the Chemistry Happens…

We are seeking a professional like you who will support the indirect procurement regional category of Construction and Maintenance Services by sourcing services for all BASF business units throughout the United States and Canada. This position includes source to pay activities (RFX), supporting the shared service center as needed, upholding BASF procurement policies and good fiscal principals, understanding category markets, and working collaboratively with other procurement professionals.

Formula for Success: You Will…

  • Support the development of supply strategies for the North American region. Work closely with the business unit and the Procurement network to develop and implement sourcing strategies for products related to this portfolio.

  • Lead and manage the sourcing process (e.g., RFI, RFQ, RFP) for key strategic contracts, and conduct highly complex negotiations to ensure the most competitive supply advantage for BASF.

  • Provide relationship management for key suppliers which includes monitoring performance metrics, resolving claims and/or disputes, market intelligence, other contributing factors affecting supply availability, and pricing of products procured.

  • Conduct market intelligence research by interacting with key suppliers, industry associations, and internal stakeholders to collect industry relevant information, as well as rationalizing to assess impact current and future to BASF.

  • Support purchase order creation and processing as appropriate.

Ingredients for Success: What We Look for in You…

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field; an advanced degree is a plus.

  • A minimum of 4 years of professional experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering/Operations, and/or Sales and Marketing.

  • Good business acumen.

  • Knowledge in strategy development is desirable, as well as background in contracts and negotiations. Familiarity with industrial manufacturing environments is a plus.

  • Experience in leading cross-functional and cross-business unit (BU) teams.

  • Ability to lead and influence others, and demonstrated problem-solving skills with business value creation know-how.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to manage relationships with internal partners as well as suppliers. Must be team-oriented and capable of working in a multi-task environment, with ability to make and implement decisions with limited information.

  • Proficiency in market knowledge, strategy development, and implementation.
