The Electronics Technician Maintenance III performs a variety of simple to moderately complex tasks on electronic and electrical components to determine functioning level and capability, and performs troubleshooting.

Electronics Technician Maintenance III - Avionics

  • Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers’ manuals or similar documents

  • Applies familiarity with interrelationships of circuits and judgement in planning work sequence, in selecting tools, testing instruments, and review for compliance with accepted practices

  • Inspects and performs maintenance on aircraft electrical systems.

  • Ensures that the electrical systems on airplanes and helicopters are properly maintained and repaired.

  • Performs maintenance on tactical-communications-security, communication, navigation and flight control equipment

  • Works in coordination with immediate supervisor for technical guidance to ensure that all assignments are completed accurately and efficiently

  • The Electronics Technician Maintenance III may be required to perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the organization

Electronics Technician Maintenance III - Armament

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in the AH-64D armament, electrical and avionics systems and components including solid state and transistorized subsystems according to pertinent technical manuals, directives and safety procedures.

  • Perform maintenance, authorized modifications and alignment on aircraft weapons components, fire control units, sighting elements, electronic, and mechanical devices.

  • Repair, replace and perform operational and preventive checks and alignments on aircraft flight controls, stabilization systems, avionics and controlled cryptographic equipment.

  • Troubleshoot equipment wiring harnesses using technical manuals and schematic drawing to diagnose and isolate faults and effect repairs.

  • Test, troubleshoot and repair test sets and diagnostic equipment.

  • Maintain records on weapons and subsystems.

  • Use and perform operator maintenance, common and special tools.

  • Prepare forms and records related to maintenance conducted.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities but will mentor/guide Technician I. This position has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned tasks and works alongside Technician III’s.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

  • Beginner to intermediate computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs. Working knowledge of advanced software applications is preferred

  • Ability to enter data accurately into databases.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence

  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff. Will also routinely interact with other crew members

  • Must possess effective oral and technical written communication skills to clearly communicate information to others.

  • Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, scanner, printers, etc.

  • Ability to follow a process.

  • Strong professional customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up.

  • Strong decision analysis and problem solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate issues to management.

  • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to goals.

  • Ability to perform basic mathematical computations

  • High degree of self-motivation and the ability to work independently

  • Ability to multi-task

  • Climbs on top of and down from aircraft using aircraft hand/foot holds, capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. overhead, on feet all day, walk up to 2 miles per day.

Electronics Technician Maintenance III - Avionics

  • High School Diploma / Equivalent

  • Must be a graduate of Army Aviation Avionic Mechanic (15N) or Aircraft Electrician (15F) or other military service equivalent course.

  • Must have 15 years’ experience in troubleshooting and repair of aircraft electrical and avionics systems

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance

  • FAA Airframe license or FCC license required

  • Must have employee owned tools

Electronics Technician Maintenance III - Armament

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent GED certificate.

  • Must be a graduate of AH-64 Armament/Electrical/Avionic Systems Repairer Course (15Y)

  • Must have twelve (12) years’ experience maintaining Army AH-64D/E weapon systems.

  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of aircraft weapons, weapon systems, and component parts.

  • FAA Airframe license or FCC license required

  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance

  • Must have employee owned tools
