Talent Engagement Training & Development Manager

Summary: The Talent Engagement Training and Development Manager is integral in shaping our learning, development, onboarding and continuous training vision and programs to support our vision of driving a learning organization at Emerson. The Talent Training and Development Manager will work closely with Trainers in each department to devise and update training assessments and plans.

  • Work with the Director of HR to build learning and development vision and programs
  • Conducts regular training and development needs assessments to identify opportunities for improvement by developing impactful training programs
  • Proposes training and development programs and objectives to strategic business partners to help meet strategic goals
  • Work with internal SMEs and department trainers to review current training and make continuous improvements
  • Own the onboarding training process in all locations to ensure new hires have an effective onboarding experience
  • Obtains and/or develops effective training materials utilizing a variety of mediums
  • Trains and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts
  • Plan, organize and facilitate employee development and training events
  • Manage and oversee the development of your training team (indirect reports)
  • Conducts follow-up studies of all completed training to evaluate and measure results and make improvements to trainings
  • Consult & influence managers to maximize organizational effectiveness
  • Provide coaching and consulting to managers regarding workforce planning and employee training and development
  • Track and report key metrics to business leaders
  • Create, advise on and manage the training budget

Required Experience:

Required experience:

  • 7+ years of HR business partner experience, or equivalent HR business partner experience in a start-up, high-volume sales, high growth or professional services environment is preferred
  • 5+ years in organizational development and training experience
  • Previous leadership of learning and development initiatives across an organization is highly preferred
  • A bachelor’s degree in business, HR or a related field is required
  • PHR or SHRM-CP Certification required
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills and the ability to glean actionable insights
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy to resolve sensitive ER issues
  • Experience with rapid & complex changing work environment
  • Coaching, influencing, problem-solving, and facilitation skills are critical
  • Demonstrated effective written & verbal communication skills
  • Proven success at designing and executing development, retention, and reward programs that meet client needs
  • Strong project and people management skills
  • Positive attitude with ability to bring energy and engagement to the classroom
  • Strong fit with Emerson culture and core values

This position reports to the HR Director but, as a shared service, can receive direction from and is accountable to the entire Executive Leadership Team. Must be able to travel to VA and CA on a regular basis, up to 40% travel.
