Job Description

Job Summary:

Assists with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with treatments ordered by physician as supervised by physician or registered nurse. Performs select clinical duties.

  • Interviews patients, measures vital signs, and records information on patients' charts. Prepares treatment rooms for examination of patients.

  • Performs basic clerical duties including answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing.

  • Performs basic materials management functions to include ordering and stocking of supplies. Assists with maintaining a clean and orderly environment.

  • Actively participates in projects that improve quality, efficiency of care, patient satisfaction and positive outcomes.

  • Coordinates and/or schedules patient procedures, consultations and tests as ordered.

Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications/Registration:

  • Required Credential(s):

  • BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • One or more of the following:

  • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Registered Medical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

  • Certified Medical Assistant obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.

Education:

  • HS or Equivalent

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

  • Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program required by hire or job transfer date

  • Minimum five (5) years of MA experience accepted in lieu of medical assistant program

Work Experience:

  • Demonstrated skills in EKG and Phlebotomy helpful.
