About This Position

Thomson Reuters Tax & Accounting (TRTA) is seeking a Team Lead to join our Checkpoint technology team. Checkpoint is the market-leading online tax and accounting research product with authoritative and nationally respected content and productivity tools. The Team lead will be driving the planning and prioritization of delivery of solutions. The team works on multiple projects, working on cutting edge technologies. The Team lead will also be working with the product teams, technology architects and DevOps teams to coordinate the delivery. Key Responsibilities

  • Staff Management

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance while ensuring customer needs are met

  • Assist in defining team goals and the goals of individual team members

  • Hiring and on-boarding of new team members

  • Mentoring of team members to assist them in achieving their career goals

  • Project Definition, Management and Oversight

  • Work with the team and architects to define technical solutions that meet the needs of the business and our customers

  • Manage software development process using Agile methodologies

  • Provide management oversight on projects to insure standard processes are followed, issues/roadblocks are properly mitigated, milestones are achieve, risks are raised and tracked, and all required documentation is maintained.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement

  • Planning and Demand Management

  • Partner with Product Owners, Quality Assurance and PM’s to plan the scope of future releases

  • Partner with Development and Quality team(s) to estimate project costs and delivery timeframes

  • Manage the capacity/availability of team resources to complete future work

  • Application Support

  • Engage team on customer support issues as needed

  • Manage defect backlog

Qualifications, Knowledge, and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field

  • 7+ years of experience in software development

  • 2+ year leading technical project teams

  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong collaboration Skills

  • 2+ years Experience using an Agile software development methodology

  • Ability to manage multiple projects in a changing, fast paced environment

  • Experience managing Offshore/Onshore development teams

  • Knowledge of JAVA, Angular JS, JQuery, Web Technologies, MVC, HTML5, and other technologies is desired

  • Quick Learner – desire to understand the technologies being managed
