Caterpillar, Inc. Senior Engineer - Electrical Components in Mossville, Illinois
This job opening is for an electrical/electronic component development engineer within Caterpillar ITDD Electrical Components division. The candidate will be a member of the team responsible for world wide design control of level sensors. These sensors are used to measure fluid levels on most Caterpillar products. Examples include fuel, engine oil, hydraulic oil, emission fluid, and coolant. These components are primarily purchased finished and utilize a wide range of product & process technologies.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
**The engineer will be responsible for a family or sub-family of products and will manage all new application requests, quality & cost improvement projects, and work necessary to ensure continuity of product supply.
**Additionally, the candidate will manage development of new products by leveraging APQP processes for specification, sourcing, design & process verification, and production launch.
**All aspects of the engineer’s role require a strong focus on product & customer safety.
**The position will require collaboration with a global supply base, purchasing, product support, industrial & cab design, parts marketing, electronic system & sub-system teams, machine groups, and component process partners in China.
**The incumbent will assist with the development and execution of product, sourcing, global footprint, and life cycle management strategies.
**Specific job activities include requirements development, supplier selection, project management, DVP&R planning/execution, stakeholder review delivery, and project leadership of continuous improvement project (quality & cost).
Bachelor degree in an accredited Electrical Engineering
5 years experience in Engineering
**Hands-on experience on electrical or electronics component troubleshooting, validation, testing, and analysis
Top Candidates will also have:
- Knowledge of engineering, procurement, and manufacturing data systems
**Master or Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in an accredited Electrical Engineering
**Familiarity with sensor design/manufacturing and/or the design & validation of construction/mining, industrial, and/or heavy equipment
**Past experience of L1/L2 NPI, CPI, APQP, reliability, vibration, and EMC/EMI
**Past experience of Caterpillar machine and engine product development
**Strong communication, teamwork, project management, and analytical skills are required to collaborate with customers, suppliers, product support, purchasing, systems engineering, and purchasing.
