Energy Contract Management (ECM) manages and administers SCE's energy-related contracts, by enforcing the provisions of all executed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) during project development and throughout the term of the PPA.

Position Overview

The Senior Energy Operations Advisor will be in the Energy Contract Settlements group. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the settlements of all power purchase agreements utilizing settlement systems, including Endur, Entegrate, and other tools to extract and correlate large volumes of data. This position will be responsible for transaction system administration and payment-related user developed applications development and maintenance. The position will provide support to the group responsible for ensuring the accurate payment of a varied portfolio of contracts from simple to very complex in structure.

The position is part of a team of six Energy Operations Advisors reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Settlements Development Support. The successful candidate will have strong technical and analytical skills and be detail oriented.

This position is in the Energy Procurement and Management organization, which is contributing to SCE’s goal to be recognized by our industry as a high performance organization.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Providessupport in the settlement of all power purchase agreements includingproviding resources for resolution of disputes, interacting with ContractManagers to obtain concurrence of contractual interpretations,establishing recommendations and conclusions based on analysis of complexdata and monitoring and providing technical direction to aid in settlingagreements.

  • Advocatesand partners with internal stakeholders to ensure readiness for settlementand compliance of all agreements per contract terms and conditions.

  • Coordinateswith external vendors and key stakeholders to gather information needed toanalyze and evaluate existing or future settlement systems and data aswell as research, plan, troubleshoot, and maintain the existing settlementsystems.

  • Responsible for supporting and maintaining the settlementssystems, including Endur, Entegrate and payment-related user developedapplications development, testing, implementation and maintenance.

  • Assistswith analyzing and improving the settlements process, including designingmetrics for measuring group performance.

  • Managescross-functional teams to develop methodologies and solutions to settlecomplex structured products and to validate ISO market charges. Provide recommendations andreviews/approves settlements methodologies and tools used for validationand payment.

  • Providesanalytical support to ensure contract compliance and supports regulatoryproceedings, including assisting with the preparation of required regulatorycompliance filings, reports, and internal/external data requests includingall appropriate documentation.

  • Developstraining materials and facilitates training of personnel that are requiredto process settlement requests on contract interpretation, regulatoryrequirements, and on how toutilize tools, systems, and data for optimization and efficiency.

  • Maintains a safety conscious workenvironment by following Edison safety protocols and safe work practices;and performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Nine(9) or more years of experience calculating payments for energy and capacitycontracts such as renewables, conventional power, combined heat and power,demand response, energy storage and/or natural gas.

  • Five(5) or more years of experience with electricity markets in functions relatedto contract settlements, contract management, electricity trading or marketingand/or project management.

  • Advancedproficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Advancedskills in any programming language and databases such as MS Access, Oracle, andVBA programming.

  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills including the ability to preparereports and present complex technical information to a wide audience, innon-technical language.

  • Strongethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, initiative, and interpersonalskills as well as the ability to effectively multi-task and enthusiasticallyengage in continuous learning.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’sDegree in in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related technicalfield.

  • Experiencewith contract settlements, CAISO electricity markets including settlementsexperience with MRTU market design and charge codes, electricity marketsenergy, capacity, emissions, and/or Master Agreements (WSPP, EEI, NAESB, ISDA,Broker)

  • Experienceanalyzing complex financial, regulatory, and/or business problems.

  • Experienceand ability to apply project management principles, and driving projects tocompletion with sensitivity to competing business needs and resources.

  • Five(5) or more years of experience with financial and/or quantitative analyses.

  • Five(5) or more years of experience working with cross-functional teams.
