About Energy ContractManagement

Energy Contract Management (ECM) manages and administers SCE's energy-related contracts, by enforcing the provisions of all executed Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) during project development and throughout the term of the PPA.

Position Overview

The Senior Energy Operations Advisor will perform accurate and timely monthly payments and provide required analytics support over a portfolio of utility owned generation, power purchase agreements, and demand response resources.

The position is part of a team of 10 Energy Operations Advisors reporting directly to the Senior Manager of Contract Settlements. The successful candidate will have strong analytic skills and be detail oriented.

This position is in the Energy Procurement and Management organization which is contributing to SCE’s goal to be recognized by our industry as a high performance organization.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Plansall aspects of analyses, presentations, and implementation strategies for acomplete complex analysis, often of moderate or major significance and/or riskto the Company.

  • Interpretscontract payment terms into formula equivalents

  • UnderstandsISO markets and correlations to SCE’s power contract payments

  • Knowledgeableabout sources of data and resources available to integrate and presentinformation regarding contract payments.

  • Utilizesexisting or devises new, innovative models and methodologies to correlate largevolumes of data into contract payments.

  • Preformqueries to formulate algorithms and create macros.

  • Understandssystem capabilities and communicates contract settlements business knowledge

  • Establishesrecommendations and conclusions based on analysis of complex data.

  • Maintaina safety conscious work environment by following Edison safety protocols andsafe work practices; and performing other responsibilities and duties asassigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Nine(9) or more years of experience calculating payments for energy and capacitycontracts such as renewables, conventional power, combined heat and power,demand response, energy storage and/or natural gas.

  • Five(5) or more years of experience in functions related to contract settlements,contract management, electricity trading or marketing and/or projectmanagement.

  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.

  • Excellentwritten and verbal communication skills including the ability to preparereports and present complex technical information to a wide audience, innon-technical language.

  • Strongethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, initiative, and interpersonal skillsas well as the ability to effectively multi-task and enthusiastically engage incontinuous learning.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’sDegree in in Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related technicalfield.

  • Experiencewith contract settlements, CAISO electricity markets including settlementsexperience with MRTU market design and charge codes, electricity marketsenergy, capacity, emissions, and/or Master Agreements (WSPP, EEI, NAESB, ISDA,Broker)

  • Experienceanalyzing complex financial, regulatory, and/or business problems.

  • Experienceand ability to apply project management principles, and driving projects tocompletion with sensitivity to competing business needs and resources.

  • Five(5) or more years of experience with financial and/or quantitative analyses.

  • Five(5) or more years of experience working with cross-functional teams.
