About this Role:
Do you have a track record in architecting, implementing, administrating and supporting mission-critical services in a large engineering organization? As a DevOps Architect, you will own architecture, design and development of our container architecture and related tools and processes for our CI CD platform. We treat our infrastructure as code like the rest of our applications. While personality and ability to learn are keys to success on our team, you should already have the technical skills described in the job requirements below to hit the ground running.
Some of your responsibilities will include-
Provide Domain Expertise in Docker and Kubernetes
Design, implement, manage and orchestrate Docker Container Clusters using UCP, Kubernetes
Design and build Docker Files, Docker Images, and Docker Containers
Design new strategies for optimizing all aspect of the certification, CI, release and deployment processes using latest container and virtualization techniques (Azure, Docker, Docker Enterprise, UCP, Kubernetes)
Work with stakeholders to drive scope definition, specifications, and architecture of our container and CI CD tools.
You will work with product management and internal teams to understand their needs & vision to come-up with multi-generation technology roadmap.
Evangelizes new technology, predict trends, and identify new opportunities based on trends. Be a thought leader and expert by participating in defining standards and open source initiatives.
Act as technical liaison for customer advisories, co-innovations and technical engagements with industry.
Provide thought leadership, strategy and lead innovation by exploring, investigating, recommending, benchmarking and implementing technologies to improve product quality and velocity.
You will drive continuous improvement in standards for software design, development, testing and support.
Sets and influences partner expectations related to technology initiatives.
Architect CaaS (container as a service) platform for engineering teams.
Architect, build, create and maintain automated solutions with scripting, build systems, backup systems, shared resources and other integrated systems.
Architect, develop, maintain and optimize automated deployment, certification and testing infrastructure against multiple on premise and, in-time, multiple cloud platforms.
Architect, build, configure and tune highly available and fault tolerant Docker Clusters.
Maintain relationship and engage with vendors (eg. Docker), professional services in terms of influencing their Roadmap, feature requests, bug fixes and timely support.
Own system deployments, upgrades and maintenance of our Docker Cluster.
Configure and use system monitoring tools and notification alerting services.
Do capacity planning and forecasting for our Infrastructure needs.
Scale Infrastructure to meet rapidly increasing demand.
Participate in research, concept testing and usability testing to deploy new technologies.
Responsible for creating and implementing a BCP for our Docker Cluster eco system and arrange 24x7 support, with assistance from IT and team members.
Ensure high availability of services and establish process for disaster recovery.
Function independently or as a part of a team to achieve set goals
You will perform advanced troubleshooting and monitoring of the systems to ensure SLAs are met.
You will actively participate in agile SCRUM and design meetings to drive initiatives.
7+ years of progressive work experience in the DevOps space having large scale software development experience architecting, building, deploying, and maintaining customer facing applications.
Expert knowledge of:
Docker and Kubernetes. (Docker Enterprise, UCP is a plus)
Experience with at least one of the following tools: Ansible, Chef, Puppet.
Experience with at least one Cloud Technology. (AWS-including EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53, Cloudformation, GCP, Azure).
Experience working with virtualization technology. (VMWare, OpenStack)
CI CD automation using Jenkins, Bamboo, Code ship or similar.
Knowledge of Terraform, Consul, Packer a plus.
Proficiency with log monitoring and analytics using solutions like Splunk or others.
Scripting using Python, Go, or other a plus
NGINX or similar load balancer – Installation, Configuration and management.
Linux (ssh, including bash shell scripting)
Experience with on-call (SRE style) rotation, both as a member and as someone who has improved the processes themselves.
Participate in product discussions, influence the roadmap and take ownership and responsibility for new projects to make them happen.
- BS, MS in Computer Science or related engineering discipline or relevant work experience.
