TYPE OF POSITION: Monday-Friday, 6:30 AM-1:30 PM Hours may vary based on program needs REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Nutritional Services, First Cook, Building Principals, SUPERVISION: Second Cook will assist with supervision of kitchen personnel QUALIFICATIONS: Required High school diploma or equivalent 1-3 years' work related experience MSNA (MN School Nutrition Association) Certification Level 1 (required within 3 years of hire date)- Second Cook ONLY Serv Safe Certification (required within 1 year of hire date) - Second Cook ONLY Preferred Bilingual POSITION SUMMARY: This is the second level in the five level nutritional services group. Incumbents are responsible for performing the duties of a class I nutritional services employee as well as more complex nutritional services functions. SALARY: $14.10/hr - $14.72/hr (subject to negotiated agreement and work experience) APPLICATION PROCESS: Online application, ; attach documentation of required certifications PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain accurate records Communicate with students and co-workers Contribute to the school and district Show professionalism KNOWLEDGE: Customer service principles Basic food preparation techniques Basic cashiering skills SKILLS: Using cash register Preparation of baked goods Basic computer use Providing customer service; communication; interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, students, etc., sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Second Cook (Elementary): assume all responsibilities of the First Cook (in their absence); assist the First Cook to prepare, order, serve, record, manage and evaluate menu items for daily production of the breakfast/lunch program; assist with the supervision of all kitchen personnel Assume responsibilities of First Cook (in their absence) Assist with supervising/directing of the Kitchen Helpers Help maintain and record all food temperatures, including the serving lines Work with First Cook in preparation of daily menu Replenishes food and operates ovens during serving lines Display/stock food on serving line Serve and/or assists students/staff Operate/clean/maintain kitchen equipment and cooking utensils Restocks inventory from shipments Verify inventory of all supplies May complete daily production records Computer knowledge to do on-line ordering Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL FACTORS: Frequent: walking, standing, sitting, hearing, talking, seeing, and repetitive motions Light Work: lifting up to 25 pounds and/or exerting up to 20 of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects All Employees of Saint Cloud School District 742 are responsible to support District goals, to work collaboratively and respectfully with diverse populations of staff, students and parents and to model and promote a welcoming working and learning environment.
