Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Financial Analyst performs analysis and reporting regarding financial operations and information. The incumbent plans, coordinates, and performs the administration of complex accounting activities.


  • Performs statistical, cost, and financial analysis of data extracted from various internal sources

  • Prepares reports based on findings, including health care costs

  • Serves as consultant to all levels of management to provide decision support for initiatives, policies, and procedures

  • Performs special projects, including research, forecasting, and exploring viable alternatives

  • Works to ensure timely completion of due diligence documentation and required checklists

  • Utilizes knowledge of appropriate financial and accounting methods and systems to assist with reporting and analysis

  • Prepares quarterly financial statements in Excel for distribution; prepares financial information for internal and external distribution

  • Supports the communication of appropriate and relevant system-wide business function financial and operational information and trends by initiating the development of actionable analysis as a basis in making management decisions

  • Analyzes and interprets financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, changes in net assets, cash flow, statistical and ratio analysis, and analysis of capital requirements

  • Follow-ups with local leadership to resolve issues; includes participating in the annual review of budget spreads and performing additional analysis

  • Analyzes month end operating results for assigned entities and follow-ups with local leadership to resolve issues

  • Submits, reviews, and analyzes forecasts and action plans for assigned entities

  • Provides additional support to the Finance team

  • Prepares and maintains complex and significant journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and subsidiary ledgers

  • Prepares, analyzes, maintains, and shares trend information

  • Evaluates compliance with System Financial policies and procedures, assists in the development of common accounting practices, reconciliations, and accurate financial reporting in accordance with System policies and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Supports various governance and stakeholder groups with financial reports/information

  • Performs other duties as assigned.



  • Preferred Credential(s):

  • Certified Public Accountant


  • Bachelor's Level Degree

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred

Work Experience:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of progressive accounting and financial analysis experience is required

  • Two (2) years public accounting experience preferred

  • Self-directed, pro-active, results-oriented

  • Excellent communication and relationship skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite of applications; particular strength in Excel
