Summary

The Project Engineer provides significant expertise on complex mechanical engineering issues and acts as a professional resource for the team. Designs and develops a variety of mechanical components and systems for products

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the technical point of contact with customers, Production, Procurement, Quality, and Program Management.

  • Provides mechanical design, theoretical and practical expertise to support development of new mechanical items or improving existing ones

  • Provides cost and technical inputs into estimates and proposals

  • Performs value analysis during the product design phase while optimizing product development costs

  • Provides technical support for new projects and evaluates the requirements and implications

  • Maintains project files and appropriate records for work

  • Product and process development for new and existing products

  • Act as a lead, providing knowledge and expertise for colleagues

  • May act in a Project Management with cross functional team management and project delivery responsibilities

  • Reduces costs and improves mechanical design and development processes, using best practices and professional knowledge

  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance

Job Specifications

  • Post-secondary Engineering degree and 5-10 years of relevant experience is required

  • Demonstrated expertise with complex mechanical engineering solutions

  • Experience with CAD modeling, drawing review, and drawing release standards. Candidate is not expected to be proficient in 3-D/CAD modeling

  • Ability to improve products and/or services by applying professional and business knowledge

  • Ability to solve complex problems, make decisions based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.

  • Effective interpersonal skills, verbal and written communication to drive tasks to completion

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
