The Honeywell User Experience (HUE) Design Team delivers an end-to-end user experience across every user touch point for our HBT businesses. We use well established human-centered design principles to ensure that Honeywell products and applications are the most useful, usable, and desirable products in the marketplace. We are seeking an ambitious Sr. UX Design Researcher to support the creation of the next generation of user experiences on a wide variety of Connected Home and Building software, applications, and data services solutions.

For this position, we are looking for people with strong skills in qualitative and quantitative user research and testing methods, including product-focused lab studies, usability evaluation, contextual inquiry, surveys, interviews, focus groups, and rapid ethnography. We would like to hear from people with proven skills in generative and evaluative user research, discovering, interpreting and communicating user insights for product and software design.

* Responsibilities: *

· Work cross-functionally with design, marketing, engineering, marcomm and other related functions to identify research topics

· Help our product design, engineering and business teams explore new opportunities, evaluate current products, and further unlock the potential of our existing services

· Organize and execute research projects, using a variety of lab based and field research methods

· Develop an informed view of our customers and end users and their experiences

· Create, maintain, and update tools that leverage insights (persona, experience maps, service design blue prints and similar) to be used in product and design discussions

· Execute toward a holistic end to end user experience approach that extends beyond the product and software use

· Work with people and teams across the company to understand information gaps and needs, and use research to generate useful insights

· Partner with engineers, marketers, and other technical roles to create and share research and test findings

· Facilitate workshops and moderate user research / evaluation

· Communicate results and illustrate recommendations in compelling and creative ways

  • Experience conducting user research using a wide variety of methods, and interpret analysis through the lens of UX, HCI, and social science
  • Demonstrated experience leading, developing and managing significant user experience design projects
  • Lead a generative research project from the initial key questions and participant screeners all the way through to actionable research findings and concept generation workshops with the broader team
  • Demonstrate rigorous approach to qualitative research analysis and synthesis using methods such as affinity mapping, grounded theory, transcript and video analysis, and rely on evidence-based findings for all research outputs
  • Knowledge of a variety of qualitative and quantitative user research methods, tools, and practices that enable you to gain valuable insights through both short term research projects and longer term engagements.
  • Fluent and comfortable in conducting research in person, in context, remotely, synchronously and asynchronously
  • Experience with testing software and hardware concepts in progress with research participants to support both concept evaluation and design iteration of new ideas
  • Ability to ask, as well as answer, meaningful and impactful questions
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative to solve problems and design and execute research
  • Track record of discovering and reporting and presenting actionable insights, with research, for product and design teams
  • Extremely comfortable co-creating concepts with people, leading research participants in participatory design session, and helping teams take action and develop priorities based on research findings.
  • Fluent with design sketching, diagramming, writing scenarios, rapid prototyping tools, e.g., Axure, Balsamiq, Visio, etc and creating UI mock ups in a pinch
  • Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, sales and support, and anyone else in a company who creates for or interacts with users and customers
  • Experience with moderating workshops and facilitating field studies
  • Experience working with and managing external vendors
  • Thrive in variety and complexity with an ability to deliver successful outcomes in global setting
  • Experience with project planning, scoping and execution in a phase-gate and/or agile environment
  • Approach research and design practice with confidence, curiosity and humility

  • Bachelors or higher in human factors, cognitive psychology, human-computer interaction, user experience design or a related field·
  • 6+ years of relevant work experience in applied design / user research and usability testing·
  • 3+ years leading design projects ·
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. Ability to communicate complex analysis and results from insight and synthesis in compelling manner to a lay audience ·
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork attitude
  • Outstanding user experience design portfolio
  • Bachelors degree in human factors, psychology, user experience design or related degree
  • Some experience in user experience design, interaction design or human factors
  • Proficient user experience design skills, e.g., customer journey map, experience diagramming, task analysis, workflow design, etc.
  • Experience with observational research and usability testing
  • Graduate degree in user experience design, human factors, interaction design or related discipline.
  • Fluent with design sketching and prototyping tools, e.g., Axure, Balsamiq, Visio, etc.
  • Experience with design trends, benchmarking, forecasting and concept creation
  • Experience with project planning, scoping and execution in a phase-gate and/or agile environment
