WorkSource Oregon HR/Safety Manager in Warrenton, Oregon
The HR/Safety Manager will be based in the Warrenton, OR mill and will report directly to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the VP of HR and VP of Manufacturing. This person will manage works relating to hiring, recruitment, training, compensation, promotion, termination, career development, or retirement of the employees at the mill. The HR/Safety Manager's job entails providing practical, consistent, and proactive support, direction and advice to Management Team on HR procedure, policy, best practice, employment rewards, and benefits. The ideal candidate for this role will be able to clearly demonstrate their ability to provide strategic and technical Human Resource leadership in a manufacturing environment. This position will be responsible for the day-to-day coordination of the comprehensive safety plans and activities of the HLM Warrenton Division Operation. They will work very closely as part of the facility management team to promote a safety culture of awareness and proactive measures. ' Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required. ' Five to seven years' experience in HR and/or Management in a manufacturing environment. ' Demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing priorities, facilitate projects and business processes and work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team. ' Ability to objectively coach employees and management through issues that may be complex, difficult and emotional. ' Must have the ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment that is consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures, regulations or government law. ' Minimum of 5 years' experience in accident / incident/hazard investigation. Lumber manufacturing safety background preferred. Combination of education and hands on experience will also be considered. ' Prior training in risk assessment, hazard abatement and other specific work place safety skills are preferred. ' Knowledge of Oregon and Federal OSHA regulations. Prior governmental reporting experience helpful. ' Mastery of Microsoft Office tools to document company policies, safety rules and procedures. ' Detail oriented with an ability to review and evaluate data and make recommendations based on sound investigation research. ' Able to travel for work as necessary.
