Position Title: Staff Accountant - General Ledger Shared Services

Location: Atlanta, GA

Reports to: Accounting Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will be a key resource to the team, responsible for general accounting, accrued property, prepaids, fixed asset accounting, payroll/vacation accruals, commissions and Sarbanes-Oxley activities. In addition, the Staff Accountant will prepare and manage the month end close process, including standard and complex journal entries, account reconciliations and internal control testing, while demonstrating General Ledger integrity.

Job Duties:

Perform accounting activities for the NA Segment’s that have been transitioned to GLSS including:

  • Accurate and timely financial reporting in conformance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), Company Policy and SOX

  • Prepare monthly balance sheet, P&L statement and several ad-hoc reports for multiple Segments’ including; local, corporate and SOX requirements

  • Perform month end close procedures to include:

  • Account reconciliation and analysis

  • Recording of standard and complex journal entries

  • Internal control testing and remediation relevant to accounting at the shared service center

  • Fixed asset accounting

  • Commission related entries/activities

  • Intercompany accounting

  • Payroll accruals

  • Judgmental accruals

  • Ensuring GL integrity, timely and accurate posting to appropriate accounts, chart of account maintenance and proper classification of assets and liabilities

  • Identify and implement ongoing process improvements

  • Special projects as assigned

  • Execute assigned transition plan activities for future migrations or for incremental scope

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

  • 4+ years’ experience with the ability to succeed in a deadline driven and fast paced general ledger accounting environment, to include performing monthly financial closings, including account reconciliations

  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills, including vlookup and pivot tables

  • Previous experience with an ERP system (SAP highly preferred)

  • Experience as a project/process lead (coordinating audits and/or leading process improvement initiatives)

  • Understanding of GAAP

  • Demonstrated ability to prepare account reconciliations and analysis for a broad cross section of accounts with minimal direction. Experience to include several areas of accounting and preferably, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Intercompany, Payroll Accruals and Revenue Recognition

  • Experience with SOX highly preferred

  • Proven characteristics of consistent accuracy and attention to detail

  • Self-motivated and independent

  • Strong multi-tasking, interpersonal and organizational capabilities

  • Pro-active attitude regarding identifying and implementing process improvements

  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels within the organization and external auditors

  • Ability to analyze problems, determine and take the correct course of action and/or recommend actionable suggestions for change
