Senior Director, National Accounts, Specialty Care, MS/IM

Overview of Role

This position reports to the Head of Specialty Accounts, MSOI & Rare Diseases and is responsible for the strategic vision and implementation of all aspects of Market Access for Sanofi-Genzyme’s MS and IM products. The Senior Director is responsible for all Market Access Customers which include but are not limited to: National PBMs, National Commercial payers, National Specialty Pharmacy customers and the VA/DoD.

This individual leads the National Account Directors (NAD’s) to develop and leverage relationships with key customer segments and thought leaders in order to maximize profitability and revenue and ensure optimal profitable access for Sanofi-Genzyme Multiple Sclerosis, RA and AD products. This individual will directly supervise these functions within the U.S. and be responsible for recruiting, hiring, coaching and training team members.

This individual will work closely with Value & Access Marketing, Business Relations Management, Sales and Patient support functions (ie MS OnetoOne) to ensure a disciplined approach to prioritize messages and actions implemented by the team.. In addition the Senior Director is responsible for coordinating, communicating and aligning customer strategies with the Sanofi-Genzyme Market Access Team.

Primary Responsibilities

FISCAL :

  • Develop and monitor performance against budgets.

  • Establish, oversee implementation, and monitor adherence to administrative policies and procedures.

  • Review and audit expense reports.

STRATEGIC BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & ALIGNMENT:

  • Motivates and leads the team to exceptional performance and achievement of goals and objectives

  • Supports and oversees implementation of strategies and tactics to support appropriate reimbursement (coverage, coding, payment and patient access) across assigned Market Access customers

  • Creates clear messages for dissemination to internal stakeholders on important payer trends, reimbursement changes, and billing requirements that will affect product utilization

  • Oversees the strategic plan and vision for business opportunities in various markets for new and existing products.

  • Analyzes the market in terms of coverage and reimbursement, existing and emerging payer policies, formulary listings, competitive landscape, trends, pricing, contracting strategies, potential barriers to provider and patient access.

  • Informs and influences key opinion leaders, regarding improved outcomes and public policy matters.

  • Works closely with field sales staff and provides training on relevant reimbursement issues.

  • Ensures a high level of collaboration and integration with the Marketing Teams, Finance, Patient services, i.e. PPS MS One to One, and Senior US business leadership.

  • Directs the preparation, negotiation, management and acceptance of government and/or commercial contracts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master’s/advanced degree preferred

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience working within account management

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with National Account, preferably CVS, ESI, or Optum/UHC

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working within Specialty Pharmacy

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience leading and managing an account management team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Therapeutic experience in Multiple Sclerosis strongly preferred

  • Experience in contract development and negotiation

  • Understand organizational behavior, corporate culture and be able to flourish in a complex and rapidly evolving workplace.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of payer decision-making for coverage, buy and bill, coding and patient access to drugs, biologicals, medical devices

  • Exceptional communication skills that include verbal, written and presentation abilities

  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities

  • Demonstrated, strong track record of outstanding decision-making abilities—able to make decisions logically, methodically, and quickly (as appropriate)

  • Superior analytical skills—effectively uses data to inform decision, drive the business

  • Strategic thinker—sees inter-relationships between seemingly unrelated elements

Role Criteria:

  • Field-based role with approximately 1 week per month expected to be at Sanofi-Genzyme Center in Cambridge

  • Travel anticipated to be approximately 60% between field, Sanofi-Genzyme HQ and other meetings as appropriate
