BMO Financial Group Manager Treasury Risk Analytics and Reporting in Chicago, Illinois
Reporting to the Head of CT Risk Reporting and Analytics, this role is primarily responsible for enhancing the Market Risk second line of defense modeling and reporting capabilities as it relates to CT Liquidity Risk Metrics such as the Bank’s Net Liquidity position (NLP), Liquidity Coverage Ratio (LCR) and Net Stable Funding Ratio (NSFR) and CT Interest Rate Risk metrics such as EaR and EVE.
In addition, this role is responsible for the development of analytical capabilities necessary to execute on this mandate and in providing insight for both tactical and strategic direction. Further development and enhancement of Balance Sheet Modeling software and other Market Risk applications is a large component of this mandate.
Develop understanding of Market Risk and Liquidity & Funding Policy Framework
Assist Risk Oversight with limit framework to cover Structural Market and Liquidity Risks
Support in the maintenance of the limit monitoring framework along with reporting to highlight limit excesses and key risk exposures.
- Develop strong understanding of the firm’s balance sheet and its market and liquidity risks.
- Assist in the design and production of board level reporting for the firm’s structural market and liquidity risks. Reports to be used at Board Risk Committees, Risk Mgmt Committee, Balance Sheet Management Committee, Treasury Risk Committee, etc.
Perform ad hoc analysis as requested by management and other key stakeholders.
Develop new analytical reports and management information for Balance Sheet Market and Liquidity Risk
- Develop understanding of data flows from source systems through reporting platform and make recommendations where improvements are warranted.
Develop understanding of behavioral models used in Balance Sheet Modeling (QRM). Develop understanding of the in-house developed Liquidity Risk framework. Support verification of the validity of inputs, models & calculations. Either QRM or Python/SAS are a prerequisite.
Advisory - authority to advise senior management on risk management and financial modeling techniques that will enable us to better manage the Liquidity and IR risk position of the institution.
Information Access - authority to have access to all relevant data for on and off balance sheet instruments to ensure accurate modeling of liquidity and IRR positions. This includes historic data as needed, on a transaction level basis.
Auditing - has authority to review work of others to ensure validity of liquidity risk modeling results.
- Knowledge and Skills
5 -7 years hands-on experience in system development or as an Analyst in the Finance, Risk or Treasury area.
Proficiency in Python, SAS, SQL and/or QRM are highly favorable
Well-developed understanding of the banking industry, bank balance sheets and income statement dynamics
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks and deadlines
Ability to work independently and in a team environment to solve complex problems
Strong relationship management skills, including conflict resolution
Advanced degrees and or professional designations are a plus
