Summary of Duties:

The Lead Engineer for the Center for Design and Manufacturing Excellence (CDME), serving as a technical expert, is responsible for the execution of industry led projects relating to commercialization for new technology through integrated design and manufacturing approaches; collaborates with industry partners to ensure projects are completed in accordance with project milestones, deliverable requirements and within the cost and schedule agreed upon during project scoping; works with OSU faculty, CDME staff and students to coordinate multidisciplinary tasks; utilizes expertise and leadership in determining technical solutions for complex problems drawing upon personal experience, Ohio State University faculty, outside sources/suppliers, and staff within CDME; partners with Program Manager to ensure disciplined project management processes are followed; bridges the gap between fundamental technology research and industries need for applied technology solutions; supervises and trains student employees.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in industrial, manufacturing, material, or mechanical engineering, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; hands on experience operating industrial metal powder additive manufacturing; experience and/or training in non-metal additive manufacturing; strong written communication skills; firsthand experience integrating new technology in a manufacturing environment.

Desired Qualifications:

Master’s degree in appropriate field and a minimum of five years of experience is highly desired; code and standards experience (ASTM,ASME, AISI, AWS, SAE, etc.).

Target Salary: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 Annually
