Offal Operator

Description/Job Summary

The essential purpose of the wastewater operator is to efficiently operate the screening room.

Responsibilities/Duties

  • Operate and complete preventative maintenance on all equipment in the offal department.

  • Obtain certification to operate a Forklift.

  • Wear all required PPE (ear plugs, slip resistant boots, & bump caps)

  • Duty to follow all Lock Out Tag Out Procedures.

  • Possess a valid driver’s license to complete the following. A CDL is not required.

  1. Place semi-trailers in the offal bays

  2. Load trailers to proper weight, which is a skill learned over the course of 3 weeks.

  • Make sure product is delivered to the correct tanker/trailer and not overfilled.

  • This position is responsible for contacting Environmental Management with information concerning non-routine process flow e.g. mixed product trailers.

  • This position will contact designated members of management in Live Receiving with product information coming from the plant.

  • The offal operators will be responsible for accurate record keeping of the process and equipment maintained.

  • The offal operators will be responsible for the housekeeping and sanitation of the department.

  • This position is responsible for operation and repair of DAF equipment (Dissolved Air Floatation) used to remove solids from water.

  • Other duties as required by management.

Required Qualifications

  1. Required to possess a valid driver’s license.

  2. Must be able to successfully carry 50lbs.

  3. Required to provide basic hand tools for maintenance of machinery.

  4. Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

  5. Required to do repetitive movement at times for 3-6hrs at a time

  6. High School Diploma or Equivalent
