Associated Materials Manufacturing Learning and Development Leader in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio

The successful incumbent will be seen as the AMI subject matter expert (SME) in the Manufacturing training arena, viewed by all levels of AMI leadership and management as a “go to” resource for learning and development opportunities, continuously updating and improving all relevant training content in order to capitalize on opportunities to deliver through new and unique mediums and or platforms.


*Needs Assessment. * Working with the Manufacturing Leadership Team and plant leadership, manage an on-going assessment process of training and development needs and priorities for the function that will support and advance the objectives of the business in areas including: Front-line leadership, supervisor skills, safety, lean, Six Sigma, CPQ, in addition to day-to-day production skills and standard work.

  • Identify the need for effective, scalable and measurable training for manufacturing processes and product knowledge, with accountability for cost, quality and ROI.

  • Build strong working relationships across AMI’s other training channels (Sales, Distribution, Safety and ISS) to enhance the role of training as a key driver to the retention, development and success of our manufacturing capabilities; and to leverage efforts across the organization.

  • Develop of robust Training Matrix for manufacturing roles that meets the needs of the plant and business and ensures employees have a “roadmap” for development.

Learning and Development Programs. Based on the needs assessment and established priorities, partner with the appropriate subject matter experts and the AMI Training and Development Director to develop and deliver training programs across multiple mediums and platforms to include; in-plant, face-to-face, and online tools, leveraging current resources and available technology to positively impact results at all levels of our manufacturing footprint

  • Establish an annual AMI Manufacturing learning calendar

  • Program manage the development of robust manufacturing training curriculum and materials for the function.

  • Be the AMI subject matter expert (SME) in the Manufacturing Training arena.

  • Continuously update and upgrade all relevant training content capitalizing on opportunities to deliver through new and unique mediums and or platforms.

  • Responsible for the administration of manufacturing training programs, coordination of training, management of resources and adherence to established budgets.

*Employee Engagement. * Coordinate with Human Resources partners and Manufacturing leadership to identify ways in which learning and employee participation can improve on employee engagement leading to reduced turnover, improved employee satisfaction score, improved quality and productivity.

  • Strategize with management and Human Resources in the area of Organizational Design (OD) ways in which the ways work, roles and organizations are structured can improve team performance

  • Strategize with management and Human Resources ways to improve all forms of employee communications, from management presentations to manager/employee two-way communications.


  • Manufacturing Leadership teams, building a strong platform for service delivery and both individual and departmental improvements

  • HR Leadership and Talent Development teams, leveraging cross functional and synergistic opportunities

  • External and professional association colleagues, leveraging knowledge share and best practices

  • Bachelor’s degree or related field or equivalent work experience

  • 5 or more years of training experience, preferably in a complex, process driven manufacturing environment

  • Must be a visible and articulate champion of successful, results-based training philosophy and practices

  • Must possess strong presentation skills along with demonstrated business acumen

  • Extraordinary communication skills with proven creativity, agility and strong sense of self awareness

  • Will require considerable business travel, estimated at 15-20%
