Denver Radiation Oncology’s mission is to help our patients fight cancer with the most advanced radiation treatments. * Our state-of-the-art oncology practice in Denver empowers patients to understand their diagnosis and treatment. * We collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of cancer specialists in order to deliver evidence-based, individualized and cutting-edge treatments. * The highly-qualified and experienced team at Denver Radiation Oncology includes two expert-level, board-certified radiation oncologists, Dr. Paige Dorn and Dr. Eugene Chung. * Both specialize in general radiation oncology and work with patients to define a plan of care that incorporates each person’s unique goals and values. Position Summary:
This position supports the mission of Rose Medical Center of optimizing quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. The Radiation oncology RN oversees and directs the care of the patient with hematologic/oncologic diagnosis who is receiving radiation therapy. The Radiation Oncology RN is responsible for the care of medical and surgical patients in collaboration with other departmental personnel and radiation oncologists. Serves as primary nurse leading the collaboration of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care. Oversees and directs the care of assistive personnel, maintaining final accountability for the care given to assigned patients. Within the first year the RN will have gained basic clinical knowledge and skills of caring for hematology/radiation oncology patients. When the need arises, will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Registered Nurse; BLS – Healthcare provider. ONS chemotherapy provider card required within the first 6 months of hire. PALS and ACLS certification preferred.

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. BSN preferred.

Experience: Two years experience in acute care required. Previous oncology experience preferred.

Special Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to manage a team and work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills.

Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Patient Care Director and Manager of the department. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
