Intern – Applications Engineer (Mfg Solutions Composites)

Stratasys is seeking an Applications Engineer Intern to join the Manufacturing Solutions Business Unit (SBU). The Manufacturing SBU is dedicated to developing and delivering disruptive additive based manufacturing solutions to strategic vertical markets. The Applications Engineer Intern will support innovation, incubation, development, and demonstration of new Additive Manufacturing technology applications supporting manufacturing of composite structures. The Applications Engineer Intern will collaborate with multiple internal functional departments and with external suppliers and development partners to rapidly develop and demonstrate new concepts, materials and processing solutions that meet a broad range of customer application and technology requirements.

Responsibilities in this role

  • Candidate will be exposed to a variety of engineering topics such as, but not limited to, additive manufacturing, material development and evaluation, robotics, and Customer interaction protocol

  • Solution development and evaluation for manufacturing tools such as jigs and fixtures and related applications on existing and future additive manufacturing systems

  • Aerospace and automotive industry perspective with an emphasis on composites

  • Participating in team brainstorming sessions

Minimum Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor degree program or equivalent program at the University level

  • Entering Junior year education of school (two years of higher education must be completed)

  • Currently pursuing a degree in engineering or a related field.

  • Professional or classroom experience in lab settings with responsibilities including material sample preparation, testing and data collection and analysis.

  • Ability to independently approach a project and deliver with minimal guidance

  • Proficient CAD experience

  • Familiar with MS Office applications.
