The Production Area Manager manages all activities of assigned area, including safety, quality and lean manufacturing principles to ensure on-time delivery that meets customer expectations. This position is responsible for measuring all critical business aspects related to the assigned area and clearly communicating information to the proper personnel.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Lead through the Vermeer characteristics of caring culture, demonstrating agility, customer focused, and stewardship and model the associated behaviors. Manage assigned team members in performance of their duties. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the organization’s business strategies and objectives and ensure department is properly serving its internal and external customers and meeting defined expectations.
Manage assigned personnel in performance of their duties including, but not limited to, interviewing, hiring, evaluation, training, scheduling work activities, discipline and discharge. Establish and monitor individual and team goals which are aligned with the Organization’s business strategies and objectives.
Manage all aspects of assigned area including, but not limited to, projects, production, costs, scheduling, shipping, receiving and quality. Ensures on-time delivery of the product, within budget, and meeting or exceeding customer expectations.
Manage and solve all vendor, supplier and customer issues concerning quality and delivery.
Lead and implement lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement projects to improve cost, quality and safety standards for assigned area.
Ensure safety of assigned area through proper communication, training and walkthroughs of assigned area.
Manage, complete and file required documentation to meet Vermeer and external state, local and federal regulations.
Education and/or Experience
High School Diploma with at least 5-7 years experience in manufacturing; and/or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
1-3 years of production management, manufacturing or engineering experience along with Continuous Improvement experience is highly desired.
