Position Information

Job Description

Responsible for managing the Marine Electrician instruction process. Strive for continual improvement of student success by planning an optimal learning environment providing high quality instruction and advising. Conduct lectures and lab exercises using the Marine Electrician curriculum. Participate in the assessment of students as well as applied teaching techniques in order to increase effectiveness. Manage learning environment to ensure safety at all time. Administer assessments that show student competence in the Marine Electrical trade.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Several years of experience working as a Marine Electrician. Knowledge of basic ship terms and compartmentation. Knowledge of basic math (including using fractions and 1/10ths of an inch). Possess the ability to use basic hand tools, ruler reading/basic measurement, cableway and cable installation. Knowledge of cable cut-in and hook-up practices (USN style receptacles, lighting, power distribution boxes (single, 3-phase, and connection boxes). Possess a working understanding of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Electrical Safety. Possess an understanding of the NNS process to perform an Absence of Voltage check. Basic knowledge of electrical theory. Must be able to work at all campus locations. Criminal history and other background checks will be required of the finalist candidate for the position. Satisfactory reference and background checks are a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Extensive years of experience working as a Marine Electrician. Experience as a Marine Electrical Instructor.
