The DellEMC Office of the CTO (OCTO) Field Interlock role has the opportunity to help shape ground-breaking products and solutions. It’s a two-way street, from the OCTO side the strategic need is to gather customer and field input to ensure our innovation, research, and technology investigation areas are aligned with customer and market needs. Then, from the Field side the strategic need is to have consistent messaging on emerging technologies and industry directions that can be leveraged with customers to drive trusted partnerships to envision, prepare, and consume new technology. This role serves as the “glue” between the OCTO and the Field teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect emerging technology requirements and insights to drive research, strategy, and R&D investment through various OCTO initiatives

  • Gather the voice of the field data and validate it against our technology agenda including the ability to synthesize feedback to extract themes and key insights from analysis

  • Establish an oversight/engagement model that is centered around prioritized, emerging technologies to drive value-added content

  • Gather customer 3-5 year technical account plans and aggregate them to be used to collaborate with the PBU’s planning activity cycle

  • Have a general understanding of the Dell-EMC product capabilities and requirements, the market’s demands and any gaps that exist which can be addressed by new technology developments

  • Leverage key internal resources to build transparency between the teams

  • Monitor the customer Proof of Concepts (PoC) experiments of emerging use cases that will solve for a key customer value

  • Challenge the status quo and enable the teams to break patterns of traditional thinking and behavior

Essential Requirements:

  • Considerable product and/or GTM experience at a technology vendor, with demonstrated impact and progression of responsibility

  • Strong technical aptitude, including working knowledge of storage, compute, database, networking, and virtualization technologies

  • Entrepreneurial, can-do approach coupled with a strong desire to make a difference

  • Strong presence and ability to evangelize efforts with a wide range of personalities

  • Proficient in driving for results, with a sense of accountability and ability to change pace and focus due to dynamic ecosystem

  • Strong business and sales acumen required

  • Excellent innovative and structured thinking

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of product oriented or related technology sales experience in enterprise software or services

  • Ideal candidates have presales knowledge and skills

  • Bachelors’ degree preferably in engineering or related technical discipline. MBA a strong plus
