Job Summary:The Machinist II is an intermediate level position that performs machine shop operations under minimal supervision to setup and operate manual and CNC machines for the manufacturing, repair, and modification of training systems in accordance with required specifications.Essential Job Functions:i Plan work sequence, repair methods, equipment needs and material requirements from engineering drawings, applicable specifications, bulletins, contractor and vendor drawings and repair manuals.i Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto various machine work surfaces.i Skill in applying shop mathematics in establishing needed dimensions to include Geometry and trigonometry.i Skill in programming CNC machining operations and be able to edit programs as required. i Specialize in setting up and operating one or more than one type of machine tool such as a CNC mill engine lathe, vertical milling center, grinding machine and various other machines for use in manufacturing or maintaining jigs, fixtures, cutting tools, gauges, metal dies or molds used in shaping or forming metal.i Plan and perform difficult machining operations that require complicated setups and/or a high degree of accuracy.i Determine proper feeds, speeds, tooling, and operation sequence or selects those prescribed in drawings, blueprints, or layouts.i Work using a variety of precision measuring instruments, making necessary adjustments during machining operations to achieve requisite dimensions to very close tolerances.i Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.i Be capable of safely handling government furnished equipment and materials.i Perform other duties as required.Education:i High school diploma or equivalent required.Experience:i A minimum of Apprenticeship/Trade school and 5 years experience, or 7 years experience.i A background in commercial or military aircraft manufacturing/repair/installation is preferred.i Current Security Clearance preferred, ability to obtain a security clearance required.i Have own machinist tools.
