Overview

Job Summary: The Activity Instructor provides activities to engage participants through recreational fitness workshops, thereby allowing them to learn new skills and develop an understanding of fitness.

Title: Activity Instructor (Fitness)

Reports to: Program Director

Location: 700 Park Avenue, Brooklyn NY 11206

Hours: Up to 10 Hours/week; Non- Excempt

Major Duties:

* Design, plan and conduct activities and workshops in specified areas of fitness.

* Submit lesson/activity plans in advance.

* Conduct activities that will engage participants and retain them.

* Teach basic fitness preparedness and correct form to participants.

* Provide classes demonstrating mixed martial arts while following participants' progress.

* Plan and implement a culminating event or project.

* Complete daily attendance.

* Manage setup, operation and clean up of activities and the organization, inventory and storing of relevant supplies and equipment.

* Attend all staff meetings and staff development trainings sessions, as specified.

* Guide program participants in examining choices, following directions and becoming involved in program activities.

Qualifications:

* High School diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

* Must have experience or skill in fitness instruction.

* Excellent group facilitation skills.

* Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.

* Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.
