Department Functions:

  • Kaiser Permanente ClaimsConnect (KPCC) is a new, state-of-the-art claims system based on Epic-s Tapestry AP platform. KPCC is being implemented throughout Kaiser Permanente as the common platform for claims processing by our new shared service organization, the National Claims Administration.

Our team provides a variety of business and IT-facing reports that allow Kaiser to:

  • Meet regulatory requirements set by the state/federal government

  • Improve efficiency & claim turnaround time through operational analytics

  • Perform financial month, quarter and year-end close

  • Allocate resources based on regional claim inventory volumes and aging

  • Provide data extracts to third-party vendors and consultant firms

Description of Intern Responsibilities:

One of the major projects for this internship will involve pivoting and validating results on our national report inventory (currently 100 reports).

  • Candidate will also participate in planning, design, and team collaboration sessions.

  • Candidate may be exposed to the Epic data model and a variety of technologies including: SAP Business Objects, Splunk, Informatica PowerCenter 10.1, Toad, Teradata, Microsoft SQL Server, and Oracle Exadata.

  • Contributing to a designated project or initiative to meet a KP business objective.

  • Report development and analytics.

  • Project management - planning, execution, and measurement.

  • Learning new applications needed to complete assignments or support the execution of business objectives.

  • Job shadowing in other functional areas.

  • Performing additional duties as required.

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.

  • Pursuing a bachelor's degree or have graduated with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited university within the last year.

License, Certification, Registration

Additional Requirements:

  • Aptitude to perform data and process analytics and formulating solutions

  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships as well as strong interpersonal skills

  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to learn quickly and experience producing high quality work in short periods of time.
