FERGUS COUNTY Janitor, Full Time in LEWISTOWN, Montana

Full Time positionWage: Wage will be $12.15/ hour with a $.50/hr increase after six months.JOB SUMMARY: The Janitor performs light cleaning duties to maintain county facilities such as the County Courthouse, the County Complex, County Attorney's Office, and Fairgrounds, in a clean and orderly manner. Duties may include cleaning restroom toilets, cleaning rooms and halls, mopping, window cleaning, dusting, and vacuuming. Duties may also include manual labor and semi-skilled work associated with maintaining lawns, flowerbeds, shrubs, trees and other general landscaping work to ensure that County grounds and facilities are maintained safely and efficiently.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:The job requires education and experience equivalent to education beyond the grade school level.Must have knowledge of basic janitorial cleaning methods/procedures and equipment and of cleaning materials, such as detergents, disinfectants, polishes, and finishes; appropriate safety precautions, rules and procedures; proper lifting techniques; general maintenance and repair of equipment and the particular function and activities that take place at the particular grounds being maintained.Must be skilled in operating various mechanized cleaning equipment, such as vacuums, polishers, buffers, etc., and in managing effective working relationships with other County staff and members of the public.Must have the ability to operate tools and equipment used in janitorial work; understand and carry out verbal and written directions; read labels and markings on supplies and equipment; work harmoniously with fellow employees and to deal courteously with the public; demonstrate physical strength, agility, and endurance. Maintain tools and equipment in clean working order; meet schedules and time lines, to observe health and safety regulations, to work independently, prioritize and manage multiple tasks and effectively apply time management skills, problem-solve and establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with diverse populationsRequires a valid Montana Drivers license.
