CVS Health Quality Assurance Lead in Lincoln, Rhode Island

Job Description

As an IT Pharmacy Systems Advisor Quality Assurance Lead is a member of the Digital Quality Assurance team. In this role you will be responsible for testing activities related to Business Intelligence (BI) reporting and Java UI for pharmacy systems (RxDW).


  • Manages and coordinates all BI testing activities including but not limited to test plan creation, test case design, test execution and test results report generation for a BI QA team.

  • Test resources and support business resources as appropriate to the implementation of testing related activities and deliverables.

  • Leads overall test planning effort on projects in the pipeline

  • Point of contact for all QA in BI space

  • Engages in Project PRF estimation process to review the ask and provide QA estimations.

  • Interact with Pharmacy Systems Management and Project Management Office on Project resourcing, time lines and QA deliverables

  • Works with Project Manager on project tasks, time lines, identifying risks, and concerns Reviews ADD on projects and works with BI analyst and manager to determine Level of Effort (LOE) Reports on overall QA status on all Projects

  • Bring ups risks and issues to upper management as appropriate.

  • Active involvement in the delivered artifact review process.

  • Overall responsible to ensure smoke testing and code delivered is stable and ready to be tested.

  • Ensure that test cases crafted to reflect business or technical priorities and are approved by appropriate stake holders.

  • Ensure test execution and record test results are documented by BI Test Team Defects found during testing are all logged into the provided defect tracking tool.

  • Ensure test metrics are built and maintained for all the projects by test team.

  • To liaise with and assist each line of business regarding the test planning, testing activity, and test results analysis.

  • To take responsibility for: time management; reporting and monitoring; risk management; issue management; quality assurance and change management.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 + years of hands on experience in software testing and quality assurance including the following:

  • 3+ years of experience in writing complex database queries – SQL, Oracle (PL/SQL) or Teradata preferred.

  • 5+ years of experience in large scale high velocity analytics production environments and backend data validation experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with large Enterprise Data Warehouse projects in the role of Business Intelligence QA

  • 5+ years of experience in planning, Level of Effort (LOE) preparation, resourcing and time lines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in testing BI applications or MicroStrategy reports

  • Knowledge of Quality Center Experience using tools such as Toad, Informatica PowerCenter Manager and monitor, Teradata client (SQL assistant)

  • Experience in manual as well automation testing.

  • Experience in BI reporting tools. (MicroStrategy, SAS, Tableau and Java is preferable)

  • Deep understanding of ETL concepts.

  • Clear understanding of software development life cycle (SDLC and Agile) Familiarity with Waterfall model, iterative model

  • Experience in leading the testing efforts for multiple projects or products

  • Good communication, problem solving and presentation skills

  • Proven ability to lead, persuade, and gain consensus from very diverse audiences

  • Ability to train and mentor others in the testing of BI Software


Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
