Hours:Rotating shifts – 40 hours per week average
Education:Minimum associates degree required and one year related experience.
Experience:SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) experience helpful
Skills:Good communication skills
Able to work under stressful conditions
Responsible for operating and monitoring OMS (Outage Management System) and CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) in order to identify sources of outages and to efficiently assign work to field units. Utilizes electronic maps to identify facilities and locate crews.
Responsible for monitoring and operating the SCADA system in an effort to maintain electrical service and identify outages. Coordinating switching procedures utilizing SCADA to insure the safety of employees and the general public.
Responsible for monitoring and operating radio communication which includes, but is not limited to; dispatching trouble and service calls; coordinating field units for safety; and handling information calls by field units.
Responsible for answering the telephone and responding to subsequent customer inquiries within the scope of their knowledge, including but not limited to generating outage tickets.
Responsible for working, communicating and interacting with other system operators, employees and customers in a business like manner at all times, even under extreme conditions.
Responsible for monitoring the security system and contacting law enforcement agencies when necessary to respond to a security threat or situation that may arise.
Responsible for any other duties as assigned by management or supervisors.
Frequent verbal communication by two-way radio, telephone or in person with co-workers, members, utilities, or the general public.
Occasional lifting, bending, reaching, stretching or squatting to retrieve records, supplies, paper, books or binders, some of which are bulky and irregular shapes weighing no more than 50 lbs. each, from all levels including overhead where climbing on a foot stool or step ladder is required.
Frequent sitting at a work station viewing or inputting data on computer and SCADA terminals; as well as performing other types of clerical duties at the work station requiring the use of writing instruments and desk accessories which require wrist and finger motions.
Occasional walking to other parts of the buildings, including walking up and down stairways to view activities on cooperative premises or to secure doors through the cooperative facility at all hours of the day and night. Most floor surfaces are carpeted or tiled, however travel between buildings requires walking outdoors and across concrete.
Frequent standing and reaching to use printers which requires use of wrist and finger motions to remove printouts from printer and to sort and file these printouts by routes.
Occasional standing and reaching to use copy machine which has moving parts and requires changing toner cartridges which contain chemical “dust”.
Frequent head movement to view security monitors.
System Operators must be able to make decisions and operate the switching equipment, and perform general work functions under stressful conditions.
System Operators must be able to work rotating shifts and overtime when required.
