This skilled position requires frequent lifting and mobility as they relate to scaffold erection and breakdown, material handling, installation of Exterior Insulation & Finish Systems and other similar activities. Work activities could be onsite or offsite in Grayhawk’s prefabrication facility.
Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment.
Have complete knowledge of proper climatic conditions acceptable for system installation.
Clean and prepare acceptable substrates for the application of EIFS.
Install the drainage system to substrate (if required).
Install flashing at openings or ensure that the flashing placed by other trades is properly installed to direct moisture to the drainage system and out to daylight.
Install adhesive and insulation board using the method specified in the contract documents.
Install ornamental pieces, panels and trim fabricated from insulation board. Cut reveals as required.
Mix base coat material in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Apply base coat material.
Embed mesh in base coat material and wrap insulation edges as required by the manufacturer of the system being used.
Mix the finish coat material in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Apply EIFS according to the method specified in the contract documents and understand detailing to itself and other material interfaces.
Perform daily cleanup of work areas.
EIFS installation work is sometimes strenuous and is generally performed on the exterior of buildings. Prolonged standing, climbing and working from rolling scaffolding are often necessary. Exposure to risk is high due to working with rough or sharp materials, and using sharp tools and power equipment. Slip and fall hazards are also common.
Range of motion requires reaching from above head to toes, from left extreme to right extreme, with frequent head and body rotation.
Education, Training and Advancement
An EIFS Applicator should have a high school education or a GED as a minimum. High school or post high school classes in carpentry, shop, mechanical drawing and general math are desirable.
An EIFS Applicator should have successfully completed an OSHA 10-hour training program.
Potential for advancement is very good and may include advancement to field supervisory positions after completion of training and demonstration of EIFS installation knowledge and skills.
