Under general direction, the position is required to promote and enhance the Company’s Safety Culture and risk management initiatives for their assigned Region. Responsibilities include maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies, qualifications for our Commercial Vehicle Drivers and training. Position develops and implements accident and injury reduction strategies for their assigned Regions.

Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain corporate safety goals by monitoring the safety and compliance status of the assigned business unit to develop and implement operational strategies to maximize the Company’s Safety Culture.

  • Monitor performance of our Area Risk Managers by reviewing relevant metrics and site visits to ensure all areas are adequately staffed, trained, and capable to meet company requirements.

  • Lead the development and implementation of Corporate Safety and Compliance policies, procedures, and training to ensure all programs reflect best safety practices and comply with current regulations for assigned Region.

  • Evaluate risk and hazards and develop strategies to reduce accidents and injuries and increase compliance

  • Work with Operations Management and Customer Personnel to develop best practice strategies in order for all parties to benefit from safe and efficient work practices.

  • Work with all levels of management from various functional departments (Operations, HR, CDP, Maintenance, Claims, Security, Finance, IT) to ensure that all needs are addressed properly as the efforts of Safety Personnel (Corporate, Service Center and ARM’s) cross all departmental boundaries.

  • Work with representatives of local Government Agencies and Trucking Associations to ensure interpretation of and proper implementation of regulatory rules.

  • Provide input to Government Agency Personnel to foster good relationships and to ensure a mutual understanding of company and enforcement strategies along with promoting the safety of our employees and the general public.

  • Monitor and become fully knowledgeable of changes to regulatory requirements from all applicable Federal, State and Local agencies. Ensure that corporate policies/procedures reflect the changes and that all affected personnel are made aware of the changes and how to comply.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited four year college/university and/or 5 years Management experience and/or an 8 year equivalent combination of training and experience. Must be in a Regional Safety Manager position for a minimum of 2 Years.

Position will require up to 30-40% travel
