At River Edge in the Developmental Disabilities program, our caring, well trained staff partner with individuals, families, loved ones and other providers to offer individualized choices, options, opportunities and supports that promote each individual's valued social roles, pursuing expanded hopes and dreams, learning new skills, and living the most independent, meaningful life possible. Though people say "developmental disabilities," we see "different abilities." Staff teach, reinforce and support daily nutrition, hygiene, medication and social skills. Staff provide behavior supports and foster opportunities and options for community integration and belonging. River Edge is currently looking for Individual Service Workers to work within our Developmental Disabilities Residential Division. Shifts include: Mon-Fri 3p-11p, Mon-Thurs 11p-9a, F/S/S 9p-9a, and S/S 9a-9p. In this roles, you will... Assist with daily living activities in individual's home or residential facility. Observes and monitors client's behavior and charts observations and incidents. Provides training on basic personal and social skills, simple academics, or work skills. May assist with meal preparation, ADL's, and provide transportation. Responsibilities ï¿½ Instructs and advises clients/residents on daily living skills in one-on-one or group instruction. ï¿½ Observes and monitors client behavior. ï¿½ Counsels and advises clients on behavioral problems, daily decision-making, and the resolution of minor problems. ï¿½ Provides personal care as needed. ï¿½ Performs housekeeping duties, such as cleaning, washing clothes and dishes, and running errands. ï¿½ May plan, shop for, and prepares meals, including special diets. ï¿½ Prepares and maintains records of client progress and services performed, reporting changes in client condition to manager or supervisor. ï¿½ Provides transportation for clients/residents to appointments and activities. ï¿½ Monitors self administration of medications. Technical Competencies ï¿½ Ability to observe and monitor participants' behavior. ï¿½ Ability to assist and supervise participants with daily living activities. ï¿½ Knowledge of agency confidentiality policies. ï¿½ Knowledge of individualized service plans. ï¿½ Knowledge of the documentation process. ï¿½ Ability to communicate both orally and in writing. ï¿½ Ability to plan recreational activities for participants. ï¿½ Knowledge of agency safety policies and procedures. ï¿½ Ability to complete all daily housekeeping chores. ï¿½ Ability to identify and report facility repairs and equipment problems. ï¿½ Conflict resolution skills. ï¿½ Ability to identify disruptive behavior. ï¿½ Ability to train individuals in personal hygiene and other daily living activities. ï¿½ Ability to recognize contributions and celebrate accomplishments. ï¿½ Other duties as assigned. Requirements: MUST BE 21 YEARS OLD or OLDER ï¿½ HS diploma/ GED ï¿½ Valid Driver's License with reliable transportation ï¿½ Acceptable Driving record ï¿½ Acceptable background check ï¿½ Must pass drug screen ï¿½ Current physical/ TB test ï¿½ Acceptable references. ï¿½ Ability to pass basic CPR and first aid Due to the volume of applications received, we are unable to provide information on application status by phone or e-mail.
