Ramapo College of New Jersey is seeking applicants for a tenure track faculty position in Mathematics, with a starting date of September 2020. The College is seeking candidates dedicated to teaching mathematics and statistics at the undergraduate and graduate (Masters) level.
The new position is, in part, being created to support Ramapo College’s new Data Science program, which will be launching in September of 2020. The program includes both a BS and MS in Data Science and will create a dynamic Data Science research hub at Ramapo College. The program is an interdisciplinary collaboration between the Mathematics, Computer Science, and newly formed Data Science department. The College is hiring new faculty in each of these disciplines. As a faculty member, you will have the opportunity to help shape these new programs. You are also encouraged to participate in the program’s fieldwork component, which provides professional opportunities for faculty and students to work with industry collaborators on research and commercial projects.
At Ramapo College, your regular instructional schedule of six courses per academic year may also include, as College needs dictate, day classes or evening classes. Faculty assignments also include academic advisement, committee work, unit meetings, education and professional development, supervision of student field work, and other related duties. Faculty are expected to pursue external funding through grants and collaborations with industry partners, and to develop external partnerships to provide research opportunities that facilitate faculty-student collaborative research. It is expected that as a faculty member at Ramapo College, you will support the mission of the College and that you will actively participate in College-wide events.
PhD in Mathematics or Statistics or closely related field by September 2020 is required.
College teaching experience is preferred.
Expertise in statistics or areas related to statistics is preferred.
The candidate must have a strong background in their discipline, as evidenced by publications, presentations, professional experience, external funding record, and/or their work as a Ph.D. candidate.
