Facebook Technical Program Manager, Instagram Data Infrastructure in Menlo Park, California

Instagram is looking for a Technical Program Manager to drive data infrastructure initiatives that maximize performance, stability, and efficiency across our data infrastructure. As a TPM on Instagram, you will play a critical role across product and engineering teams. You will work to identify key challenges and partner closely Engineers/Data Engineers/Data Scientists/Engineering Leads/Product Leads to drive programs that address these challenges. You will play a key role in making our infrastructure more efficient, reliable, and scalable as we grow.

The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, adept at collaborating cross-functionally, and has experience with large scale systems, managing efficiency of large scale systems. This is a quickly evolving space, and the TPM is expected to be flexible and pivot based on the problems we are trying to solve. This person will be highly organized, productive, poised, and able to thrive in high-pressure, time-sensitive scenarios.

This is a full-time position in Menlo Park or New York, with occasional domestic and international travel.

Required Skills:

  1. Articulate the technology, requirements, goals and milestones for your team

  2. Develop and manage cross-functional programs in a matrix organization covering a range of areas, facilitating relationships across teams at Instagram and Facebook to manage dependencies and optimize resources

  3. Drive internal process improvements across multiple teams and functions, remove roadblocks, and deliver on high-impact projects that align with the company mission and goals

  4. Collaborate with engineering and product management partners to define roadmap and long-term strategy for your team's domain

  5. Roadmap and communicate program updates, risks and new opportunities to leaders and stakeholders, identify dependencies and perform risk/change management on projects

  6. Drive accountability and ownership in a fast-paced environment through project planning and strong interpersonal skills

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. B.S. in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience

  2. 4+ years of software engineering, systems engineering or technical product/program management experience

  3. Experience delivering large-scale tech programs or products from inception to delivery

  4. Knowledge of user needs, gathering requirements, and defining scope

  5. Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams, demonstrated critical thinking, and thought leadership

  6. Communication experience and experience working with technical management teams to develop systems, solutions, and products

  7. Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience

  8. Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems

  9. Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with distributed compute and storage systems, managing performance & stability of large scale systems

  2. Experience in social media, software, internet or digital media industries
