The time is right to join HNTB Corporation! HNTB is currently seeking an Office Quality Manager in our New York, NY office location.

Job Summary

Champion the achievement of Quality Work on all projects within the Office, resulting in greater profitability and higher levels of client satisfaction through implementation of the HNTB Quality Management System (QMS) and Quality Management Standards of Performance (SOP). Responsible for working with the Corporate Quality Officer (CQO) on continual improvement to the QMS, and the achievement of corporate quality initiatives. Responsible for developing, analyzing and reporting on quality performance within the Office to the Office Management Team (OMT), Division Quality Manager (DQM) and the CQO. Supporting Project Quality Managers (PQM) and project teams in the implementation of the QMS on projects.

Essential Responsibility

  • Working with the Office Leader (OL), Office Delivery Manager (ODM), Project Managers (PM) and Project Quality Managers to ensure understanding and implementation of the corporate QMS and quality management SOP within the offices in the Office. This includes participation in Draft Work Planning sessions and supporting the PQM on Contract Work Planning sessions on projects to ensure the incorporation of quality activities into the work plan.

  • Assign PQMs to projects in time to participate in Contract Work Planning activities.

  • Providing guidance/training to PQMs in the Office regarding the implementation of the QMS, development of Custom Project Quality Plans (PQP) when necessary, and in quality assurance review and audit activities.

  • Reviewing and approving PQPs.

  • Providing QMS refresher training to office project delivery staff.

  • Developing and implementing an annual Quality Audit schedule covering active projects within the Office and managing a corrective/preventive action process to address audit findings. Sharing the results of those audits with the DQM, OL, ODM and CQO to identify continual improvement opportunities.

  • Providing review, comment and input to corporate QMS documents and processes

  • Facilitating After Action Reviews (AAR) for projects within their Office, in accordance with the SDA Implementation Manual.

  • Capturing, analyzing and presenting quality performance metrics to the DQM, OL, ODM and CQO.

  • Participate in the quarterly Corporate OQM conference calls and attend the annual OQM workshop.

  • Working with Project teams when necessary to train/facilitate root cause analysis and corrective action activities to prevent recurrence of quality issues.

  • Support the implementation of the Quality Management SOP in the office.

  • Provide feedback for the quarterly Corporate OQM conference calls and attend the annual OQM workshop.

Basic Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Management/Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or other related engineering or math/science degree

  • 10 years of relevant experience

  • Must have experience developing and implementing project plans at a lead capacity

Preferred Qualification/Skills

Certifications/Licenses: American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence, or Certified Quality Auditor.

10 years of experience with implementation and oversight of quality management systems, including quality audits, reporting and continual improvement activities.

General Work Conditions

Office Environment: Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to potentially unpleasant working conditions. Incumbent must have the ability to stand and sit frequently, and reach horizontally as well as vertically for overhead use.
