The Production Engineering role acts as a vital technical resource for Operations personnel, applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolves plant problems and enable safe and efficient production of low cost, quality products.

This role is to provide a technical resource to assist work teams on daily operations and process performance so as to run a low cost, on specification, reliable, optimized operation, thereby maximizing value to the business in a safe environmentally friendly manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Earn respect and trust of operations team because of their great problem solving skills and technical expertise.

  • Elevate and appropriately apply knowledge of their plant and technology – Study historical data, convene with Tech Center or other SMEs, etc.

  • Ensure MET is understood and utilized and that process automation is used as a tool to optimize plant performance.

  • Partner with the experts to perform advanced troubleshooting and improve operating discipline. Diagnose and document root causes of asset utilization losses in the facility.

  • Lead Root Cause Investigations to resolve EH&S, downtime, reliability or quality issues.

  • Conduct daily review of logbook and alarm history to better understand the plant operation and stay engaged with daily activities. Maintain, own, and review daily KPIs/ trends to ensure optimum performance.

  • Respond urgently to plant issues and emergencies. Act as a unit technical expert during unplanned events and drive implementation of effective corrective and preventative actions.

  • Works with Technical Advisors (TA) and plant personnel to optimize operations to meet Business and plant goals. (EH&S, Production, cost, quality, energy, reliability).

  • Provide leadership and direction in the day to day decision making for the operating area of responsibility.

  • Support management of change for procedures, design, and prints.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering is required.

  • At least 3 years of chemical industry experience.
