Title: Principal Systems Engineer / Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Ship Systems: The System Architecture Design and Integration Directorate (SADID) in Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) is seeking candidates for a Systems Engineering position within the Maritime Domain Systems Department. This position is located in Portsmouth, RI. Job Description: The engineer will perform analysis and develop requirements, modeling and simulation, metrics, defining of algorithms and interfaces, development of process/procedures and more throughout the program lifecycle. Will provide recommendations in the form of cogent white papers or presentations up to the level of customer reviews. Will work independently and in a team environment across disciplines with providing superior problem-solving, and rapidly grasp new concepts and gain a system level understanding. Will contribute to technical innovation, growth and process improvement. Note: This position can be Salary Grade G10 or G11, based upon the candidate’s qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience, and responsibility requirements for the position. Basic Skills: Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience with the execution of design, development, and analysis of large system architectures. Experience with shipboard combat systems and in one of the foll owing required: Understanding of Naval Combat Systems Management of requirements for combat systems Analysis and evaluation of technical systems Applying engineering standards (or developing new standards where none currently exist) to assure quality systems engineering. Adapting and expanding operational systems to improve workflow and meet developing needs Interacting with Senior Management and Customers DoD Security Clearance must be obtain within 1 year from start date; U.S. Citizenship status required. Desired Qualifications Experience with Aegis Combat System Experience with integration of new sensor or effectors into a Naval Combat System Experience with the distribution of sensor data Experience with point-to-point and networked interfaces Experience managing an engineering budget Experience in supporting business strategy, proposals and new business development efforts within the DoD acquisition process Experience with IBM Rational DOORS and Rhapsody Demonstrated ability to apply engineering processes and procedures to manage engineering projects and systems from definition, through development and operations. Demonstrated excellence in both oral and written communication Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective communications with Senior Management and Customers Ability to describe highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, from other Engineers to Upper Management and the customer, in terminology selected for audience understanding.
