Amazon Web Services Senior Customer Research Manager in Seattle, Washington

Job Description

AWS is looking for a product focused Customer Research Manager to execute primary research and deliver insights and guidance to support strategic decision making. This position is full-time, based in Seattle.

This research manager will be tasked with helping senior product leadership and product marketers get the data they need to understand customer needs and competitive landscape in order to inform product roadmaps and marketing strategies.

The role will require raising the bar to ensure the highest standards are met across diverse research objectives and methodologies. This will require working proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders to define and execute research projects. This position will own a portfolio of product related key metric tracking programs and strategic ad-hoc research initiatives, as well as crafting the roadmaps for future product research efforts. We want a researcher who will champion customer and market insights in driving product strategy, working proactively to guide the organization on how best to leverage primary research.

The successful candidate will be a self-starter, with strong attention to detail, vocally self-critical, with an ability to work in a fast-paced, high-growth, and ever-changing environment. This role will need to assimilate data and hone in on key insights that drive business recommendations. She/he recognizes that the true measure of success is based on the business impact.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Design research instruments (surveys, discussion guides) and sampling techniques to gather data with the highest standards

  • Work collaboratively with the marketing analytics and business intelligence team to ensure high quality and maximized impact

  • Build and manage an ecosystem of research partners to support research initiatives

  • Analyze primary research results to foster insights and strategic guidance

  • Identify opportunities to combine disparate data sources to uncover new insight

  • Distill and communicate complex insights and strategic guidance in written narratives

  • Consult with diverse internal stakeholders on how to leverage research and maximize return on research investments

Basic Qualifications

  • 7+ years of quantitative and qualitative market research and analytics experience in a technology company

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in business, mathematics, or the sciences

  • Experience in both qualitative and quantitative research techniques

  • Exceptional written communication skills, especially in story-telling

  • Expert-level project management competencies

  • Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills

  • BA/BS in relevant education

  • A natural curiosity and desire to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior involvement in product focused research

  • Expertise in business-to-business (B2B) and technology

  • Experience in international research

  • Experience in both client and vendor-side positions

  • Analytical skills with experience in statistical modeling

  • Advanced and relevant education
